This is a great deal, vango Icarus 500 deluxe 5 person tent at £199. You probably can’t buy many 2nd hand ones at this price. Cheapest similar vango tent I’ve found elsewhere is about £229 in a sale.

You will need the go outdoors discount card to get this I think, but I believe it’s only £5 a year so it will still only cost you £204.

Good branded family tent at this price point..

I’ve just reserved one today.. This is my first deal post go easy on me

Have you had any problems with leaking vents?

Bit of a personal question...

Vango is an excellent quality maker of tents large and small. You can't go wrong with this .
Great tent had this for five years and still going strong
Been at this price for a little while as I got it for the same price last month. That said it’s a really good deal as it certainly looked to be the best tent I could find for the money.

I've also had this tent for a few years. Plenty of space for me and two kids. The only issue we've had is split poles but these are easily replaceable with standard pole repair kits.

Mine is 7 years old. No leaking vents?
Kitchen flap Velcro is now worn out, so lets in a few drops of rain if its windy.
Other than that, a top class, well designed tent!

No issues still waterproof but has been well looked after
Great tents. I have a Banshee 300 and it hasn't let me down yet! Super quality for the dough.
10% off extra for miliatry
Ive had this tent for 4 years and have to admit that's it's utter trash in the rain. We've water proofed it so many times but anything other than light rain ends up coming through. If you want a dry family tent look for something different. I think the technology of the tent is really old (it used to be called the ISIS but they relabelled it the Icarus once the Islamic State began taking over the Middle East).

Our doors leak a lot. They can be like a dripping tap in the rain and we have to put a towel out.
We have the newer version of this, the Icarus was replaced by the Isis which had a name change to Iris which is the one we have. I don't think this model has been made for years as our Iris is already 3 years old?
We've never had any problems with the waterproofing and it's been through some tough weather and our vents are fine.
Had our first pole break a few weeks ago but nothing that can't be fixed.
Only thing we would like to change is not being able to have any doors open in the rain, the sloped front means even propping the door up with king poles it comes in the top and same with the side door as it's sloped. We've got the Vango Zeal 500 canopy which is a smidge shorter height wise but does the job but was an ebay purcahse as it's not available anymore.
Overall, despite the doors, at this price it's worth it - heat added!

Excellent find @Great_Vids , I've just pinned this as one of the deals of today
Great tent, had it a couple of years, had it done awful rain and while being kept up all night for fear of getting flooded, it hasn't leaked yet

Halifax were offering 10% cashback (might be account specific) if you use one of their credit or debit cards to purchase from Go Outdoors. It has to be activated from the Cashback Extras area on the app or account screen.
Great find

Police too I believe.
To me this is not a 5 man, but a nice 2 man tent, we camped in one this size with 2 adults and one kid, and even then it was small
IMHO, you'd be better off spending an extra £20 on this one.

Why do police get discounts when their wages are stupidly high?

I have to disagree with your comment. For what involves.... risking their life to protect other. Their pay compare to polictian n footballer is far too low. The the increase announce recently in public sector pay is still not good enough to all of our emergency services...

Risk their lives? maybe less than 5% risk their lives and they will be on an even bigger salary... they get really high pay and a massive pension. I understand the army giving out discounts but the police is just silly...
Can the words deluxe and tent ever be in the same sentence?
It's been this price since April.
I have a Vango airbeam. Quality is OK, but not that impressed with the design. My previous Royal tent had canopies to stop rain dripping in, interior hanging pockets, lots of zipped windows and mesh (from the inside) to make light and air easy to control. My Vango has none of these features and to be honest I find it a bit low rent.
It’s been this price all year long under various different promotions
A shame this isn't an air tent. Still trying to find a good deal on one..

Have a look on the Decathlon site
Can this be erected by one person?

I can usually self erect but some require two people

Can thoroughly recommend them. I have been using one for wild camping in Scotland for the past two years. Easy and quick to erect and has been been totally waterproof in some pretty extreme weather. No good for backpacking tho.

I erect this on my own no problems with one caveat, it would be tough work in strong winds and I'd be having my tov rope in the child at that point

Because like other public servants they've had an effective wage cut since 2010 and they put their lives on the line simply by going to work.

Think the better question is why are you so resentful of public servants getting a discount?
Would anybody recommend/avoid the deal for £399 which includes the awning, carpet and footprint? Any views, positive or negative, welcome.
