Looks a good deal but is it normal for no padding around the top of the trainer especially at the back heel where it rubs? I don’t doubt these are vans but they look incredibly cheaply made

True- my son received some grey ones a few days ago and can now hardly walk with the blisters at the heel!

(different model, but same problem)

Comfy Vans

These are the Vans I got on Amazon, very comfortable. They were on sale for £26 a month ago

Yes, much more expensive as well....
They are authentic and real but VANS target a couple of markets. You will always find the less padded ones at Designer Outlets (they don't sell off old stock, they make slightly cheaper versions for these stores) where as in the VANS Stores you will find mostly ticker padded tongue and surround by the heel. It's still a top price and they still last but it just depends on what you are used to.

Hope this helps someone.

He should try wearing some socks then.
There's a reason we've worn them for generations.

He did padded gym socks... Got his little toe as well. I suppose that it's the size of his feet, really
Cheap rubbish. Even Tesco use padding in their shoes.

thanks.
Vans I currently have from official vans website are different from these, mine have padding around the ankle. It does look like outlets and amazon have a cheaper version. Mine also have a small red tag that says vans below the white line, only small difference and rest is identical.
I'v had mine for months and get used constantly and still look new, I would be worried these cheaper ones are a false economy, cheaper at first but only last a few months.

Edit*
The white sole at the bottom is also cut different at a different position, it could be a different materiel or thickness.
