These are Pumps not Trainers!

actually they are called surfsiders by vans

Call em what you like but they are still Pumps!

Ordered these last time. They are so flimsy you wouldn't believe it and the size 9's i ordered were closer to size 7.

Returned.

Being English, and a man, I have no idea what "pumps" are.
Ugly shoes mind...

Don't they need heels to be called pumps?

No they are not. They are neither trainers nor pumps they areVans. Vans are Vans and are instantly recognisable by the standard features of waffle sole rubber edging and distinctive shaped upper. My son and his friends wear them and they only ever refer to them as Vans. They are their own sub genre of leisure footwear.

No, they are pumps and have been made by Vans to make money, nothing to do with genre's or anything else

Define pumps then crazylegs.

I'm currently wearing my Vans Men's Rata Vulc Trainers, and it's pretty clear they are surf siders, alias - deck shoes, alias - top siders, alias - boat shoes, alias - sailing shoes...so much so if you stick "vans boat shoes" or "vans sailing shoes" into google images they come up on the first page as being sold by Two Seasons.

More twaddle I see!

Pumps by the way are any type of casual plimsoll type shoe with a rubber sole and Vulcanised rubber banding to the whole of the lower part of the shoe!
Vans, Skechers, Etnies etc etc are all just brands nothing more, they are just a variation on a theme, Surfsiders, Deck shoes, etc etc are just the model name given by the Brand...

Example : Vans surfsiders

Example : Ford Escort

Ford is the Brand name of the manufacturer and Escort is the model name....Its still a CAR though!

Vans is the manufacturer and Surfsiders is the model name.....Still a pair of Pumps though

Pumps is a regional slang term within England, sufficiently obscure that a fair chunk of the UK (see post 5) would consider you a WUM weirdo to go on as you are. As for 'casual plimsoll type', these don't have a line around the sole (and even then don't even start with the idea that Converse Chuck Taylor BASKETBALL BOOTS are plimsoles - the massive hint at exactly what they are is in the name)

Vans are an American company: the term 'pumps' does not even get a look in, the american slang term for rubber sole shoes is sneakers.

You might as well be saying 'these are not trainers, they are PE shoes.' Do you have any idea how big a cretin you are making yourself look?

WUM mission complete. Well done.

Again more twaddle

Going off on one about american sneakers, we live here in the UK not America where these and lots of others like them are known as Pumps always have been always will be!

Call em what you like they will always be Pumps..regardless of brand like I said in my other post..
I explained what a pump was if your too thick to understand the explanation then I pity you!

Job done on my part, I won't be coming here again..GOODBYE!
