I've been deliberating over a BlackVue dash cam, both for the features but also the small form factor. But with it being so expensive and having 2 cars, I thought I'd get one of these for the wife's and then decide on whether to get a BlackVue for my own depending on how this performs. It's obviously at the higher end of the price scale but seems to be very well reviewed, over 300 mostly positive reviews on Amazon. £129.99 seems to be the cheapest around. Look for the 'Promotions Available' link under the delivery info and redeem the top offer to get this price. Read on for potential free GPS...

There seems to be something a bit funny going on with the promotions on this item. If you look at the product page it came up with a £10 Amazon voucher under the price, but then there are also 6 promotions listed. The first offers this camera for £129.99, the second offers a free GPS Receiver Module if bought together. I'm guessing you're only supposed to be able to claim one of these, as if you redeem the first one and just buy the camera, it goes through the checkout at £129.99, but if you also add the GPS then it goes through at £149.99 (including a £21.99 discount for the GPS). However, I tried my luck with Amazon CS, claiming that I should have gotten both offers, and they (eventually) agreed and offered to refund £20 on dispatch (so I'll get both the camera and the GPS module for £129.99). Worth a try for other chancers out there!

Separate gps? Ridiculous idea

It's a common thing I find in some dashcams. It helps keep the price down but allows for a consumer to add it later on.

Doesnt seem to be that uncommon, even some of the BlackVue cams dont have it built in. Obviously it's not a 'must have' feature so I guess some will prefer to pay less to do without it.

That's only a front facing camera. This is front and rear.

I'm not an expert but you are generally better with stand-alone dash-cams for front & rear obviously you want the best forward facing and another for the rear. The front camera on this model is 1080p whereas the rear camera is only 720p its a compromise if you have the budget go for individual ones.
I previously looked into the dual dash-cams before and ruled them out and if you develop a fault with one of the cameras you still have to replace the whole unit, separates less of an issue.

It's a rear facing interior camera which gives a completely different perspective from a 'true' rear facing camera mounted on the rear screen. I don't personally see that it's of any value unless you're a taxi driver or if you routinely carry psycho killers around.

I concur. A couple of ROAV C1 Pro's make an excellent choice (especially during Amazon lightning deals (£79.99 each incl 32GB Samsung card, built in GPS, Wi-FI and 2K video recording) Alternatively two standard C1's when £55 each (lightning deal) ... 1080p, WI-FI (no GPS)

I don't disagree with either of you, and if someone can point me to a better front and rear solution for £130 right now I'll be all over it. But given this is £70 cheaper than 2 of the C1 Pros you've suggested at the current price, and for that I get a passable (if not perfect) front and rear-ish solution in a single device, I'd argue that still makes it a pretty good deal, right now (seems like I'm the only one though )

The only further advice I can give is keep checking for deals don't rush into getting a compromise setup another tip is to check your local electrical stores that sell dash-cams ( Yes phone or pop in ) and ask if they have any ex-display ones as I managed to get quite a saving just by buying one of them no box just the dash-cam, mount & if your lucky they may chuck in a micro sd card doing this when they have the holiday sales on may also help
Google for the techmoan blog to get excellent reviews of dashcams and other gadgets
