I hate cigarettes, but these are no better in terms of social acceptance, plus the amount of people a see driving in their own fog astounds me, its dangerous! Also, genuine question, how do you know these are safe?

Can't speak on behalf of those who blow huge clouds, as I'm not one of them. I vape and it stopped my 20+ cigs a day for almost 30 years when all other alternatives failed miserably. A colleague of mine at work has been smoking for even longer but was suffering from breathing difficulties as a result of many years of smoking. I advised him on switching over to vaping and those difficulties have disappeared. I also vape while driving, blowing the vapour out of an open window, no fog in my car, just a brief bit of white vapour for a couple of seconds.

As for safety, there have been numerous documentaries, papers published, NHS advice that seem to come to roughly the same conclusion. 100% safe? Probably not. Better than smoking? Around 90-95% better. The behaviour you have described, I actually haven't witnessed, but I wouldn't agree with it either, personally, same as you. But then you always get a few irritating people in all aspects of life, it's certainly not limited to vaping/vapers.

I have an ace supplier from Bristol working out at about £15.00 for 100ml but available mainly through facebook or his website direct - message me & I'll send you the details if you want. Best flavours I've ever had by far too.

Thanks for the informative and pleasant reply My question re safety was asked because my mum smokes (too much!!) and I thought about recommending this? The thing is, do you ever really know what's in the stuff? Is it regulated to a standard etc? As you said, if people remain considerate, it has to be better for everyone, perhaps the "dragon" wannabes are just thinking it looks cool??

Lots of papers and studies coming out lately showing vaping to be at least 97% safer than smoking.

In regards to what's in it, e liquid/juice consists of vegetable glycerin and monopropylene glycol as the base ingredients. Vegetable glycerin has over 70 years of research, while monopropylene glycol used to be used in hospital air conditioning systems due to its anti bacterial properties. Nicotine is nicotine, addictive, yes it can kill you if you have too much.

The only thing that's really damaging is the flavourings used - which is now regulated due to the TPD coming into force earlier this year. Previously it was found that Diacetyl, Acetyl Propionyl and Acetoin was used in some e liquids which is food safe but when inhaled not so safe.

Diacetyl is used for a buttery taste and commonly used in popcorn which can cause "popcorn lung", a serve type of bronchitis. The amount in e liquid was still typically 100 times lower than in normal cigarettes though. Since the TPD came into action however these substances can't be present in tested e liquids you'll find in most vape shops.

So yes, vaping is a hell of a lot better than smoking. Not as good as clean, fresh air but where do you find that in a city anyway?

MrCliffordgave a good reply to this. Yes, it is regulated, if you buy the liquids from a local vape shop or supermarket etc then it will be under UK regulations. The main concern that I saw raised was with the flavourings. There has been some concern, albeit small, that there has not been enough study of these flavourings when 'vapourised' as they haven't really been used in this way until fairly recently. Before regulation you used to see 100's if not 1000's of flavours from a manufactuer. Now you see a still wide, but smaller range, because every single flavour has to now go through testing procedures (at a pretty high cost, per flavour) before it can be sold in the UK.
If your mother is going to give it a try, most smokers are best starting off on a tobacco flavoured liquid, I stayed on this for 6+ months before dabbling in other flavours. Some are happy to stay with tobacco flavour, which is fine, down to the individual. The liquid comes in different nicotine strengths, I started on 18mg and now down to 9mg, but if you have a local vape shop they can usually give good advice on something to start off with to see if she takes to it or not. Some vape shops can be quite cloudy though if they allow people to vape in them, I took advice from someone i know, so I didn't end up going into one.
I hope it works out for your mother, I have definitely found improved health, better sleep, not being out of breath and have no cravings for cigarettes, which is a wonderful feeling after so SO long. It takes a little getting used to at first and most people seem to say just mix cigarettes and vaping if you need to at first, then just ease off the cigs as you get used to it.
I would always be considerate of others when vaping, and I think most people are to be fair, but it's always the extreme ones that stick in your mind isn't it
Good luck!

Thanks SatoriX, you've both given good advice To be honest I think that she will resist as to her, her cigs have sort of become part of her life, but I'll see if I can talk round, cheers guys

Order over £20 for free delivery and enter code AAEC5 for another 5% off. Utter bargain. Oh and there customer service is amazing as well. I had an issue with a juice that just kept burning my coils out recently (American Grape flavour) I mentioned it to them on an email and they replaced the WHOLE 200ML batch FOC in case it was an issue with the batch I had received. Shortly afterwards I discovered that I needed to vape this flavour slightly hotter to stop the coils burning out. I let them know and they sent me 3 extra 10 ml bottles in my next order to thank me for my email. Brilliant service.

They also sell a great 100Ml variety starter pack so you can try out some different flavours
