Seems like a good deal for a variable strength ND filter. As stated, price varies on size of filter required.

Sure to create plenty of filter debate in the comments box.

are they any good? any one use them before? is the picture still sharp after using it or rather be blurry?

I have just ordered one. I can let you know when it turns up!

Great deal and heat added.

NB if you just want a cheap and cheerful high-value (i.e. ND10+), high-density glass to try out your long-exposure times - helps give waterfalls and waves a dreamy/misty quality - get a piece of glass from a welding mask for a couple of pounds from a certain auction website.

For only a couple of pounds you can try out the effects! Just use a rubber band, looped around a reversed petal lens hood, to hold it in place once you've manually focussed.

Saves spending £70 or so on a set of 'proper' filters if you just want to have a play before seriously investing!

How will this one compare to cheap ebay ones? for about 25% of the price?

BiGT: this one is variable, couldn't see any cheaper ones on ebay when I looked (but I might be wrong!)

The variable ND filters are of poorer quality than a standard ND filter. They work by having two polariser films that rotate against each other. When the polarisers are at 90 degrees, you get maximum light attenuation (much like if you hold two sets of polaroid sunglasses against each other and rotate them and observe the variable attenuation).

hmmmm, £33.99 for the 77mm filter. not sure i'd pay that without knowing exactly what the quality is like
