These are the really good quality thick glasses that you would expect to find in a pub- Not like some of the thin cheap ones you come across in some shops.

Great for filling up the cupboard or even fathers day on Sunday!

make sure the wife takes a big handbag and kitchen towel for wrapping

Picked up a few from local Tesco - great price for solid glasses - did not see any Strongbow or Leffe though just the ones in your picture.

i thought anyone that owned these type of glasses either worked in a pub or nicked them out out pubs didn't know people actually paid for these

Blasphemy!

this is crazy but i truely believe beer tastes better in the correct glass and it totally destroys the flavour if you get cider in a lager glass for example

you're right, that is completely crazy

Picked up 9 Leffe glasses earlier on in the week. No Leffe glasses left in the Coventry Arena store though this evening, just Bulmers and Strongbow.

Having a drink in its correct glass would have a placebo effect if anything. It doesn't actually taste different (apart from head-saving glasses or similar technology), although it could be aesthetically pleasing to see it "as it should be" (i.e. the authentic "from the pub" feeling).

You're right. That is crazy.
You realise they're made out of the same glass, right?
You realise that shape has no bearing on taste right?
You realise that the shape of the Bulmers glass is identical to the shape John Smiths glass?

I'd say it was the placebo affect but if you're aware of the lack of logic in your statement then that rules this out.

You're right, a lager glass will have a design in the bottom (they call it nucleic or similar) which is designed to stop your drink from going flat. A lot of glasses are designed with the product in mind & there is a general feeling in the industry that people taking a glass home, or buying one, is a good thing as it helps product quality.

ha, a combination of the worst beers, that's funny. Although I have to admit I like the design of the Bulmers Over Price

but it depends on how the pint glass was manufactured. ie if it has one of those laser etched patterns on the base to keep the pint from going flat. So you wouldn't want to pour a pint of say Guinness into a laser etched pint glass made for lagers. No logic in that one.
I work in a hotel bar, and we always hear of complaints from the 'pint aficionados' about not having their brew in the correct glass. You have to agree with them, because you can see yourself how quickly lagers and ciders go flat when they are in normal (non branded, non lasered) glasses.

Cool! I normally drink my White Lightning straight from the bottle hidden in a brown paper bag so I can pretend that it is Buckfast. Now I can afford to swig it in style.

Shape of the glass can effect the taste. You also taste through your nose, via smell. Different glasses give different surface areas exposed to air, and narrower glasses at the top allow less aroma to leave the glass. Why do you think wine glasses are different shapes?

ive got the smiths half pint glass its just like the one in the OP in design, nicked it from my local lol
i guess i need to get myself down to tesco today!

different glasses effect the way the drink settles as well as aroma

Not sure, was in Tesco Extra at Westwood. Has a huge display mixed in with the 3 for 2 beer and cider offer at the front of store.

Yeah me too, didn't know you had to buy them, I always thought the beer price was inclusive of the free glass...
Especially if it's over £3.00 a pint.
