Great deal! Anyone know what kind of stock they tend to have in Asda stores??

Is it VAT-Free or 17.5% off?

great deal , you'll need to go to a big asda to get any decent stuff

Does anyone know if this includes games consoles?
I'm after a PS3.

Probaly 17.5% off so if you buy something for your company you can save another 17.5% :whistling:

By Monday it'll only be 15% off

If it's VAT free it's £14.89% off.

The deal states "TVS, DVD PLAYERS & SET TOP BOXES" so I dont think Consoles are included...

Offer ends Sunday but the 2.5% won't make a big difference anyway.

do asda stock any decent lcd tvs?

LJC79;3577270

Correct, hence why it'd be better to have 17.5% off.

Vat still has to be paid, so you can still claim the vat back if you're vat registered.

They can't just choose not to charge vat. It's just a way of them giving an approx 15% discount.

Actually, VAT IS 17.5% until Monday 1st Dec, when it drops to the lower rate

This deal will be 17.5% off, because that is what VAT is at the time of the offer. From monday, VAT drops

17.5% is nice but most of their products is food (which is VAT free anyway) so it wont make much difference and is nothing more than just a psychological incentive!

Not really mate - mainly older Sony models and their on ONN brand.

You are missing the point COMPLETELY.

We know VAT is 17.5%... but Prices include VAT... If its 17.5% off a £100 item then the price comes down to £82.50.

If its VAT free then it means taking the VAT off the total Price and it comes down to £85.11... THAT'S the difference... thats what everybody else understands.

See it now?

what abt games???? - want COD5 for xbox360

Yup, is what I was about to post seeing as a lot of people seem to be lost! VAT off would take off 17.5% from the items base price, whereas 17.5% off would take off that percent from the items base price, plus a further 17.5% from the VAT.

Plus businesses can then also claim 17.5% back, so double savings

awesome shall put it in my diary! heat added =]

just bought an HDMI DVD player posted for 20quid but guess i might as well pop in see if they have anymore of them and then take it back with the one i bought today get an extra 3.50 off that way

if its VAT off, the easiest way to work it out is as follows: Its called the 7, 47's.

Item 1) £100
Multiply by 7 gives you 700.
Divide that by 47 equals £14.89

£100-£14.89 = £85.11

Try it on anything!

Example 2)

£320 TV

£320*7 = 2240
2240 / 47 = £47.66

So Remaining amount is £320-£47.66 = £272.34

Shame as this is a cracking formula and im sure a lot of accountants use it. The change to 15% will screw a lot of things up for them

Does this include laptops they sell ????

Simple calc to show VAT element at 17.5% of the gross price - so with current gross prices at Asda you can use this calc to show how much you will save. No prob at 15% either as it's the new fraction 3/23.

If its anything like the £5 phone deal earlier their wont be any stock 5 minites after the store opens, i think its just a trick to get u in the door!

Hi hope this helps took from Asda web site press centre.
Wii console listed.

correct.VAT = 17.5%

It's wrong.

17.5% would be 17.5% off.

VAT off would only be 15% off.

It's been explained up there ^^.

my gaffer say`s the vat works out to be 15% off the stated price somthing to do with margins when we have "vat" sales its 15%off the listed price (or is he tight ar5e pulling a fast one) oh this is going back years nawt to do with monday, wander if he knew something we did`nt!!!!!!!
