Seems like a good deal from a main dealer.
Think this might be a batch of older models though. They had this deal a few months ago too.

Might not be the best car out there, but this looks like a decent deal for what it is.

So unless you have a 54 plate car or newer to P/X for £1000 you cannot get this deal, cold for me

Bristol street motors are doing the same car for £9999
bristolstreet.co.uk/new…3dr

providing you qualify for the partners programme
vauxhalloffers.com/par…php
- simon-c

After speaking to the dealers (Evans Halshaw & Bristol Street Motors),
only cars with Metallic paint left which is an extra £495
& you'll need to be related to someone who works for GM & both registered on the Partner Scheme for the 16% discount
otherwise the price will be £11486

Seems to be the 2010 model:
parkers.co.uk/car…813

That was my first thought but if the deal is legit then on the face of it then it look like a great deal
It would certainly make more sense than buying a one year old used one at book price:

parkers.co.uk/car…=94

Just had a quick look on autotrader and a second hand on 2010 registered is about the same price with less than 10,000 miles on so not worth much imo and possibly due to the new shape model so they are clearly trying to get rid of stock
I'd like to know where it has been sat for the past year
Parked up in their thousands on some aerodrome somewher i`d guess. If you get the 5 year warranty then not a bad deal, new shape rrp is c.18K
The sporthatch is still a current model though, can't see anything to say that this is a 2010 model?
vauxhall.co.uk/fle…tml
It'll be replaced shortly by the GTC though which is probably why they're in a hurry to get rid of them.
You had me at electric windows.
hooray henry

Lifetime warranty on it - albeit with loads of catches no doubt.
Trickster it is deffo a 2010 model as they have since changed the shape of the astra altogether

So what? Still a blinding deal
oO
As said its an old shape car and its from Peter Vardy!! Id run away from it as fast as you can!
So what year plate would it come on?

No it has a 100000 mile warranty! Unless Vx are claiming that the car will only last 100000 miles. Personally I lake Vx's and if it was from another garage I might of considered it. But to call it a life time warranty isnt true

this is brand new with zero miles for same price so this is clearly a good deal, i know which one i'd buy. Brand new or second hand for same price, hmm let me think.
Aparently it would be on a 61 plate. However im not sure how this would work as its illegal to make a car look younger than it is (plate wise)

Do Peter Vardy not have a good reputation for any reason?
Seems very good deal to me, heat added

Don't be daft , build date has nothing to do with it , it is registration date that determines it's age & hence the manufacturers warranty .

The only fly in the ointment for any buyer is trying to sell it on as a previous model , that is factored in here by the price it can be bought for .

The Astra Sport Hatch (old shape) is still available from Vauxhall (look on their site). The new version is coming out soon so I imagine this is stock clearance. Will be a 61 plate, etc.

I'm not saying it is a good deal but not quite as good a deal as they would have you believe as the car in the picture is the old model so quoting 18k as rrp is not entirely true but said that is just my opinion, still a good deal if you were looking at a second hand one as it is a no brainer not to buy the brand new one

I think the clock only starts when the car is first registered though; I agree you can't backdate the reg after it has been registred, but if the car has been sitting in a field unregistered for a year then it would still be legit to put a 61 plate on it IMHO. I have a vague memory that case law permits manufacturers, and hence dealers, to sell a car that is 3 years old as new, provided it hasn't been registered.
heat added.. still not as good as my fiat panda diesel, but if you want a new astra then this is a good deal
Got one of these for my GF. Cracking deal. Miles nicer to drive than a corsa/fiesta which are the same money.
Only negative is fuel consumption which is about 35mpg.
All gone at tesco again

I asked them they say its 2011 car (see previous quote)

First of all, the Astra Sport Hatch, which is what this car is, is still marketed as a NEW car from vauxhall. Yes, there is a new Astra, but there's currently an overlap period during which both cars are available.

Every day, countless "new" cars are bought which have been sitting in a parking lot for over 12 months. They're still new cars.

Second, it doesn't matter when a car was manufactured. At the moment, any car which is registered for the first time will be on a 61. The best examples of this are old beatles and minis which are driving around with plates on them which were registered 20 years after they stopped making the cars.

From the blurb:
"The Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty covers all models in the manufacturer's line-up and applies to the first owner of any Vauxhall registered from August 1 2010 for the lifetime of ownership, or up to 100,000 miles."

Might be handy for low mileage users.

The catch with these sort of deals is usually to cost of servicing at main dealer prices on older cars, I assume the warranty will rewuite main dealer servicing.
Also depends what they class as wear and tear - could be almost everything in an old car.

At least the manufacturers are improving - in 1997 I looked at a £17k Peugeot and they wanted me to pay extra for anything more than a 1 year warranty.
Edited by: "huxley1" 16th Sep 2011
Lifetime Warranty is fine but it doesn't get transfered to another name if you sell it on, plus you will have to get it serviced/mot'ed with them etc..... Im sure those prices will go up more than normal.
Hi,
I work for Vauxhall at the Head Office so can probably shed some light on the vehicle situation, although cant comment on Reg Vardy as a group or their pricing (which on this deal, is excellent)

It is a 'brand new' 61 plate Astra 3dr. It is techincally a 2011 model becuase we made a number of changes earlier this year to the trim, and they will have been built this year. We do have a updated 5dr version which is why this is being classed on this thread as the 'old model' but the updated version of this one (the GTC) doesnt come out for a few months.
It will have sat in our storage centres for a number of months and with the new GTC coming out, we will be keen to shift them.

Therefore this is a brand new car, you will be first owner on the log book, it will be a registered the day you buy, hence a 61-plate. And you will get the lifetime warrenty on it
whitbyfish

I'd like to know where it has been sat for the past year

What exactly do you think they do when they have an overstock of cars? Place them into a black hole?

They sit on a large field covered in transport grease.

I came across the deal when looking for Corsa/Fiesta type cars and it really stood out as good value. I need to replace my Seat Ibiza soon. This Astra deal struck me as better value than most of the used deals around. It's a bit old-tech, which isn't always a bad thing, which is why I guess the mpg isn't as good as newer models. It's about the right mix of sporty & practical I'm looking for.

They were doing the Corsa VXR for £12,999 recently - that was tempting too.
this this specific model any good for a family with 2 kids (i'm in the early stages of researching our next car) - hadn't planned on buying new, but this seems worthwhile on 1st impressions
