If they are very reliable why have you needed to buy 2?

...and had need of their customer service to take it away and return it a few days later?

Sorry if we're sounding cynical but almost everyone I know who has had a Vax has experienced it breaking. There are 2 kinds of Vax owners; those whose Vax broke and they hate it because of that & those whose Vax broke but they still love it anyway.

I had a top of the range Vax vacum a few years back - it was terrible from day one. It never picked up very well and sounded like an RAF Tornado, at close range (it really was very, very loud). In addition, it completely stopped working after 18 months. After it gave up, I paid £19.80 for a recon Hoover from Ebay - It worked just as well and picked up more suff than the Vax (the Vax cost £199). I would never buy one again - beware. I know other people who have suffered the same.
