Sweet, just ran out from last time!

You've GOTTA be joking - just bought 4 of these at Asda yesterday!!!

yay! I used to be an uncle bens express rice fan, but I jumped ship after one of these. The pilau rice is really nice, even the plain rice is really good.

Definitely worth stocking up.

There was a 2 for £1 sign close to these in our store but they rang through at £1 each, however the product next in line was 2 for £1, sharp tactics by some stores, Morrisons are criminal for it.

Not fussed got 12 at Costco the other week for £8

YAAAAAAAWN

yeah right, a multi-billion pound company is really going to rip you off for 50p

Wow, thought these were a bargain when Somerfield were doing them for 70p each.
May make a journey to Asda to stock up on these.

My Somerfields pulls stunts like that every week. So yes, multi-billion pound companies WILL try to rip customers off of 50p here and there.
You have to take into consideration how many people fall for it all year every year, then you'll realise it makes them a fair amout of money

Have just got back from Asda and the offer was only on the Basmati & Pilau Rice. The other varieties were all £1 each.

you are accusing a multi-billion pound company of ripping off the public - I think you will find their legal dept. have a lot more money than you

I agree about Somerfield. On the occasions that I have visited their stores they have often run out of offers and then put non-promotional goods on the shelves where the promotional goods were, and have 'forgotten' to remove the promotional labels / price tags (making it look like the promotion applies to the new goods, when it does not).

I am accusing them of ripping us off.... because by doing this sort of thing, that is what they are doing! (regardless of how much money their legal department may have....)

Yeah I just got screwed on this. Got 4 packs, two went through at two for a pound, two went through at a £1 each. Only checked the receipt when I got back. So it's not ALL varities as posted.

Really? I've never heard of that before.

Thanks, OP. I love the brown rice stirred into some bean soup. I know it's far cheaper to steam the rice myself but I can't be bothered to wait 30 minutes, and you can't really reheat brown rice.

basmati is the best anyway, so i'll be stocking up

The co-op had them on offer for 71p each the other week, though sadly only 2 of the varieties. My favourite, the basmati with wild rice, never seems to be included in these offers.

never used these....are they one serving per pack or two?

Just looked at the Asda site and indeed it is just plain and pilau.
All others are at £1.00. Seems then my store had the wrong idea and had most of them in the special rack at the end of the isle.
I would try and edit the original post but someone has expired the post.
Can someone unexpire it and I'll edit the first post.

All are a quid each at my local, none seemed to be 2 for a quid.

Have sent an email to unexpire so I change the title.
It is just plain and pilau ONLY that are 2 for £1. All others are at £1 each.
Available online and instore.

The pilau one is lovely! Bought almost 40 of these in the Co-op a few weeks back for 63p each.

Still showing at £1 per tray at my local ASDA but scanned at 2 for £1, picked up eight trays.

Thanks.

I'd say a large single serving

They are yummy

Compared to traditional rice cooking - from traditional dry rice, and cooking yourself - in a pan or a rice cooker, these do not compare whatsoever. The two are miles apart.

I don't agree.
I work really hard and am sometimes to exhausted to cook from scratch, although I do a lot of the time.
So these are especially good when you haven't a lot of time (or energy) to flaffing about with cooking rice, also these are just miles better then the microwave rice in the packets which I find to get clumpy and yucky!

Hi

What kind of date do these rice have please. Or are they suitable to freeze.

Thanks

I would really recommend a rice cooker: some are low as £10 these days.
put rice in rice cooker, add some water. turn it on.
wait 20 minutes or so.
perfect rice every time.

Trust me I would be useless without one - and the difference in quality is huge.

hot deal my girlfrened loves these easy to cook for her as shes desabled easyer then cooking rice

On this occasion it might br 50p but Morrisons continually place stuff so people purchase something that appears to be x amount but is actually a bit more.

Even if it was 50p, if they get one person per store, that is a lot of 50 pences given the multi-BILLION pound company have so many stores.

It's not YAAAAAWN, its business but underhand tactics, how much people actually bother to look at reciept or go back and let them know.

They don't like to be told that's for sure!

Recent examples are of Tropicana, they store it in two chillers....one has a huge sign saying that the 1.5L ones are on offer at £2.

However they place all Tropical ones there that turn out NOT to be on offer and your charged £2.76.

Plenty Orange in the other chiller with no £2 red sign shouting out at you.

Same with Extra virgin oil but with a greater margin.

They often leave up Cravendale 2 for £3 signs when it's not on offer.

Cracking deal, No point in making your own rice at this price... Cheers OP:thumbsup:

Cool was running very low, was waiting for it to come back on offer

Too much arguing going on. Could someone kindly help me out and tell me if you can freeze this rice ok.

Sorry if it sounds like a simple question but im not much of a cook and never know if items can be frozen or not without looking at the packacking.

It would save me a wasted trip. Many Thanks
