hmmmmm, looks to good to be true, must be a fairly poor quality screen to be this cheap, but I am still tempted, lol.

nice work OP, heat added,

Seriously seriously tempted... but SO can't justify the price ...

i`m getting one later will , you get free fitting with it as well which is a bonus if your not technically minded

maybe just maybe, does this include 16 day money back ?

bought one and have already fitted it , had same connection as the cd player i already had so just plugged it straight in , works a treat nice clear picture
the one i got was a wharfdale one exactly the same as the one displayed in photo
you also get a free fit voucher in the box

Did it have fitting for a subwoofer or ps2?

it has AV out & AV In outlets at front and comes with leads to connect a games console or other device

Why would you want to watch a DVD whilst driving? That's asking for an accident surely?! Why not just watch them at home on the big screen TV and DVD player you got cheap thanks to this site.

They are supposed to be conected to the handbrake to prevent that.

Other halfs dad has 1 which he has whilst moving and yes it is dangerous :w00t:

does remind me of this one tht i had in my first car

mmsa.org.uk/ass…jpg

if its any thing like the one above its highly recomended

But has this for a removable faceplate ? dosnt look like it does !

Screen for DVD (safe mode connects to car handbrake - disabled when vehicle moving).

it hasnt got a removable fascia which is a drawback but i`m not 2 worried about it

Anyone know if it plays DivX or Xvid?
Also, who actually fits this into the car?

MY cars an import an apparently (according to a car audio shop) they couldn't put in a cd player because it would me taking the whole dash, etc and the price would be insanely high.

So lets say these guys can't install this dvd player, surly I can return it?

It looks ok for £99. I've just bought one. I will mainly be using it for mp3 dvd's though. You can fit 50+ albums on one dvd. No need for tons of cd's in the car. Whilst I won't be watching films when driving, my front seat passenger might want to so I'll have to sort out the handbrake cable thing. Shouldn't be to hard though.

Can someone please tell me if it has rca outputs in the back for sub etc

thanks guys

You have a Mercedes Benz and you can't afford to get a decent stereo installed and have to look at these cheapies :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

just a word of warning .

u will regret buying 1 of these without a removable faceplate ... near enough every 1 i know who has had 1 of these ( ripspeed halfords one) without a removable faceplate regretted it afta having it stolen and causing more damage than the car is worth.

you may think this is cheap , but it wont be afta having to buy a new window !

unless u dont leave ur car any where , and always garage it then by all means buy this . but if u openly park in carparks all the time do not BUY this !

bought one of these today as already posted , seems to be an issue with switching it off , you can switch it to standby mode of but its still lit up , not really noticable in daylight but i have just popped to the car to get the manual an the interior is lit up like a christmas tree with blue lights from the fascia , nothing in the manual about power-off
might see fi i can ring them in the morning to find out if there is anything i can do

bought one today, got the wharfedale one. seems ok, though will be returning it as it does NOT play mp3's, which is one or the reasons i bought it.
to the previous post, read the book as there is an issue with certain cars and the way they arew wired.
Also found the unit VERY noisy, both in operation and watching a film.
If i missed something about the mp3 playback let me know.

mine plays MP3`s ok , plays copies of DVDs but doesnt play ones i have recorded on my home dvd-recorder
have looked right thru the manual about issues with certain vehicles , only mentions VW / Audi & Vauxhall , i am using it in my Ford Focus
i have put black tape over the front as i cant be arsed to take it out tonight

ok, just wondered. btw how do you do your mp3's? on cdr or dvd? laid down as single tracks or as complete album? sorry to ask, novice!

i only tried a MP3 disc on CD , burn single tracks using nero havent tried a DVD MP3 , the only issue i have is the power-off apart from that its working fine

thanks, will give that a try. good luck

did yours power off ok ?

yes, just plugged straight into the other radio plugs. just tried an other mp3 disc, no joy. you could try swapping the power over as they surgest in the booklet.
Going to sleep on it, still think i will return it. not happy with the amount of noise it makes, would have been ticked if i had paid full price.

plus it has no rear in or outputs.

i`m going to have a play round tomorrow with it , probably is a wiring problem
cheers for the info

good luck. mines coming out and will get a potable dvd player instead,

i was gonna get a portable one 1st but plumped for this instead , they still have plenty of ones at my local argos so will probs get a portable if no joy tomorrow

failing that i always got the free-fitting voucher i got with it

"" Also, yes you can watch it if the vehicle is moving, simply connect the handbrake wire to an earthed point.""

Perhaps the most stupid and irresponsible comment I've read on this forum.

Only 5 weeks ago 2 Polish men were killed on the M6 because the driver had wired his dvd player to allow him to watching it while driving and caused a crash.

I honestly believe anyone caught doing this potential fatal trick should be banned from driving for at least 3 years.

I agree it would be insane to watch this while driving, but I'm assuming the reason he mentioned it is if your front seat passenger wants to watch something.

Will

Yep, I think MTV's Pimp My Ride has a lot to explain.

With people stealing things like Sat Nav's, I would not want to put a £99 DVD player in my car and then pay hundreds in repair bills after some criminal nicks it.

Best bet is a portable DVD player, at least you can keep using it while out of the car.

As for MP3, just get a head unit that does bluetooth, then you can stream all your music from your phone as long as it is Bluetooth: v2.0 A2DP compatible.

"Whether or not the screen is being watched by the passenger or the driver whilst the vehicle is in motion you are going to have a hard time explaining why it was on in the following situations:
a: A police officer pulls up behind you and sees it.
b: the screen is there playing the latest blockbuster DVD as the emergency services cut you out of the wreckage of the fatal accident that you were just involved in"

Right so what about those screens that people have in the back of front headrests for their children to watch?
Also please tell me where i am advising anybody to do this?I am simply telling people how to do this.
A 3 year ban for this? Are you mad,get off your high horse. You get a minimun 12 months ban for drink driving. So what your saying is that having a dvd screen installed in your car with the ability to watch it whilst the car is moving is MORE serious an offence than driving whist completely pissed???

Anyhow,I only posted this as i thought its a good deal!

Whether or not the screen is being watched by the passenger or the driver … Whether or not the screen is being watched by the passenger or the driver whilst the vehicle is in motion you are going to have a hard time explaining why it was on in the following situations: a: A police officer pulls up behind you and sees it. b: the screen is there playing the latest blockbuster DVD as the emergency services cut you out of the wreckage of the fatal accident that you were just involved in. In the second situation you'd better like prison food. Google for Regulation 109 of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986

That regulation appears to apply to mobile phones. The only law that bans TVs per se is one that bans Cathode Ray Tubes - that's because the law was so old they hadn't conceived of any other method of viewing a screen. Obviously this is a TFT screen.

There is no specific offence here - if your passenger watches it fine and if you do and you are caught (though Lord knows how you prove someone was actually watching the screen as opposed to looking down) you could be had for dangerous driving or not in proper control but it would depend on the circumstances and is not an automatic offence. Having the screen within your view does not appear to be an offence.

That said - to watch a screen when driving is EXTREMELY foolhardy and kill someone doing it = up to 14 years inside (good).

Is This Worth Getting ??

i'm after one with touch screen. cheapest i've seen is £200 at lidl. anyone seen a touchscreen for less?

1 - The screens/ headrests for their kids to watch are BEHIND the driver for people in the back to watch........D'ohhh! Not IN FRONT which is what you advocate you numpty...ever such a slight difference!

2 - I'd ban drink drivers for 3 years minimum too.... anyone who WILLINGLY and KNOWINGLY endangers another person's life through their own selfish stupidity deserves whatever they get. If you reckon that watching a dvd while driving is any less dangerous than drink-driving then you're completely beyond help....... I always love it when people like you can't argue their own point but have to try and deflect it by pointing at another separate and totally spurious point.....LOL:whistling::-D

3 - " I am only telling people how to do this " when referring to how to illegally make it possible to watch it while driving..... Why?? You think it makes you sound clever or something...it makes you sound like what you've just shown yourself to be...an idiot with a foul mouth. You don't perhaps think there's a good reason the manufacturer makes it that way

As for me being on a high horse.... what you mean is you can't rationally substantiate your argument ( because it's not justifiable ) so you decide anyone who disagrees with you must be in the wrong or being on a high horse.....:whistling::whistling:
Anyway....you get back to buying your cheap and nasty little dvd system....just about sums you up........

i havnt got this 1 , but ive had quite a few of these in my cars and now have the latest clarion one

i use it mainly to play Music Videos while driving . These are constantly playing while im driving and it does not distract me at all . i dont watch the videos just listen to the music .. just easier with music videos so me passengers can watch them.

all hes saying is how 2 play video while driving ( connect to the Black ground wire) , this can be taken in many ways ... it would be a good option for people who wanna hook up external monitors for there children in the back and u can put the front screen away .

its just a deal for god sake grow up and go outside with a handheld speed camera and catch some real criminals !!
