These aren't actually sold by Rakuten/Play though (like most of the flash memory there) so could be fakes.

Bought, thanks OP.

I just checked my receipt for another card I "bought" from them and there was no £5 discount on it - what's going on? No phone number to call. Nothing. Was all this a big scam that's taken a load of us in??

I found a number 01606 226 460. I logged onto my account with the details that came up on my registration email and on there was the number. There's a rather confused girl on the other end trying to sort out what's going on.

So far I've been told that because the order was places through rakuten there's a chance that the discount will come off. I said that I wasn't prepared to accept "a chance" and wanted to know if it would be applied or to have the order cancelled.

I've just ended the call and I'm waiting for an email (that I can use as proof in case things go belly up) that will sum up what I've just been told. The long and short of it is that the voucher is taken off by Rakuten themselves, not Gameseek so while it shows that I have paid the full price, I should only have been billed for the list price minus the £5 voucher. I'm still rather scheptical about this so I'll get in touch with my creditcard company tomorrow and check what's been debited.

I think it's safe to say that I'll be holding off from using Rakuten any time soon!

While I was waiting for said email to come, I've just had a reply regarding the email I sent earlier...

I am sorry for the concern caused. Rakuten is a brand new marketplace and … I am sorry for the concern caused. Rakuten is a brand new marketplace and their system and our system have had teething problems. This is one of them. Our system, at the moment, won’t handle the discount you have been given at Rakuten so we aren’t able to present that back to you in our order confirmation email. You will have been charged the discounted price.

They also billed me £7 from gameseek. I guessed that since rakuten offered the £5 off, game seek will acknowledge the offer for £7 but rakuten will only take £2. I will confirm from my card tomorrow. If I get charged £7 (which I doubt), i will just use my payment confirmation email from rakuten to request a chargeback from my bank or reject the order if Rakuten fails to apply the £5 discount.
