Verbatim 25 DVD±R Pack £3.00 at ASDA instore only

Spotted today at ASDA Ventura Park nr Tamworth a bin full of these 25 disk spindles in both +R and -R varieties. Appeared to be from the Taiwan factory, but all marked at £3, which is the cheapest I have seen these yet. These are the standard disks with a non-printable surface.

No idea if this is a national deal, but ASDA offers tend to be.

[edit] Checked with ASDA. This is ex-promo stock, previously marked up at £7 and now stores are clearing what stocks they have left. This price 'should' be hitting all stores that have any stocks left. As always, if you are making a journey for this, ring ahead first.

Fantastic price! I don't currently need any, but may pick some up if I come across them tomorrow.

Nice spot... Hope there's some left at this price come monday!

There were £5 a spindle at Smallheath friday afternoon. Suspect it's a store only clearance....

Paul

£5 in my local.

£5 in my local also, why are people giving this heat it looks like its only the one specific store...

If you're like me and prone to burning coasters, then the rewritable Verbatims (4x DVD+RW) are still 7.80 quid for 25 at Dixons and this is the Website, not one obscure ASDA branch

Ridiculously, Dixons won't let you put more than 3 spindles in your online basket "for security reasons' (WTF?!), but since it was free postage, I simply bought 3 spindles with one order and then 3 more an hour later (both got delivered the same day, albeit in separate packages!). I swear by Verbatim DVD+RW's - they're the only rewritables I don't have trouble with. Amazon UK are doing the same DVD+RW spindle for 12.79 quid, so I think the Dixons deal is almost as good as the ASDA one, especially since you don't have to live by one branch to take advantage of it.

apart from the speed rating and dye

Get the DVD+RW - they are much better than the minus version.

I would never buy these discs again. I have had nothing but trouble with the orange label Verbatims. The purple label ones are superb and have never had any problems. The orange ones for some reason were not reliably holding data for me. I still have a 25 spool unopened and will probably never use them for anything important.

More likely to be a problem with your burner or its firmware than the discs. I have burned LOTS of data with them and have never had any problem.

I have just changed both of my dvd burners from Lite On to LG so I will see if the change has made any difference. I know the firmware was up to date. Perhaps The Lite On Drives have an issue with these discs?

It is quite possible. When you said you had a problem with the orange discs, that screams out as an incompatibility issue with the DVD-R discs and your burner. As i said, i have burned shedloads of verbatim discs, mainly with DVD-Rs. No matter where they are made, they have always proven to be top notch. I use a pioneer DVR-115D and previously an NEC drive.

the + ones scan at £5 the - are £3

just bought 200 in Cardiff ASDA Cheers
