They are now charging ]£23.99

This deal voted hot:thumbsup:

They have been this price for about 6 months - its usually where I get them from (bear in mind the pic is wrong and they are now the orange and blue wrapped ones).

Just got mine a couple of days ago. They are the indian made discs for those who like to know.

To most people it won't matter in the slightest mate, but some people are very choosey about their discs e.g. only using verbatims made in Taiwan and/or Singapore.

Made in Japan are the best. They usually have the superlative TYGO-3 dye.

Becoming difficult to find these days. Shame Verbatim are spoiling their good name by using inferior manufacturers.

Indian manufactured Verbs in my experience are worse than "el cheapo" brands from local computer supplier/fair.

How about 100 pieces of ]Maxell DVD-R for £12.99?

are these TY's?

I've purchased Verbatim dvd-r discs on many occasions and never had a single burn failure.....until I bought these. I'd guess I had a 40% failure rate with them!

Someone stated above that these are made in India and are of different standard/quality to the Singaporean/Taiwanese ones....It certainly explains my problems with them.

please ignore if you are a grumpy *******, just after a bit of advise and I'm a bit limited on the computer front.........when I download films theyr'e nearly always just over 700mb so wont fit on the disks I have.

Will these ones do or can anyone recommend a better fit - normally between 700-800mb?

Thanks, in advance.

Almost ALL movies that you can download *cough* are encoded to fit a cd-r perfectly (Divx or Xvid)

Are you using 70min cd-rs per chance, as they're encoded to fit CD-80 (80 min cdrs) which are slightly larger in capacity, you shouldn't need to use a dvdr for a standard xvid/divx movie or double episode of the tv shows that are downloaded.

Methos.

nice, can use these to back-up wii games

A friend was telling me that sometimes they put samples in there which can be a few MB so that sometimes make it look like you are downloading more than 700MB. But normally after you unrar all the pieces you will be left with a .ISO file for example which will fit onto a CD. This is the main reason they choose 700MB as the size of divx films,so they can fit on one CD. Anyway, that's what my mate told me as I wouldn't have a clue myself, honest guvnor.

If these are Indian manufactured I wouldn't rate them better than the Maxwell deal posted here and certainly not as good as TDK so COLD.

Just my experience with m2h but I tried to buy these Verbatim from them - their online registration was bust; it took me three days before I got through on the phone and when I did I wasn't at all imprressed and decided to leave well alone...

You should fit 6 or so films on a DVD which at 15p or less a disk is pretty cheap. I presume you're copying to CD in which case you won't fit a bigger than 700mb divx on them (unless you overburn which your CD writer might not like). You can download films in VCD image format (usually just about 800mb in size) and these WILL burn on to a 700mb CD but the quality is no where near as good as DivX.

These discs are better to store more movies on if you have a standalone divx player or convert to dvd vob with convertxtodvd top program for turning 700mb/1.4gb movies to dvd format

You are Joking : Yeah

Ritek dye is one of the worst in the world now since they sold out quality over greed :-Avoid like crossing dual carriage way after a bottle of Smirnoff. Unless of course you like red.

DVDs are also handy for fitting a whole season of TV shows like Friends, My Name is Earl, (24 episodes, 23 mins each, 180MBish), etc on, or if it's longer shows like Lost or 24, (45 mins, 350MBish), you can get a whole season on 2 discs.

not that i encourage that sort of behaviour, of course.
