Safely back up and store all your files from your PC or laptop
USB plug 'n' play (no additional power required)
'Nero BackItUp and Burn Essentials' software included

USB 3.0 offers up to 10 times faster data transfer rates than USB 2.0 (based on USB bus speed) providing ultra fast data transfer on the go.

Store and carry your digital and day to day working files on this truly mobile drive. Its stylish smooth design sits neatly on the modern desk top as the perfect accompaniment to your laptop.

Store n Go portable hard drive is USB 3.0 bus powered (1 x USB 3.0 interface) yet is backwards compatible to any USB 2.0 ports on your PC or notebook. The drive requires no external power for operation; simply plug n play.

Store ‘n’ Go Portable Hard Drives are formatted in FAT32 enabling you to use them on Windows OS and Mac OS systems.

For added security Nero BackItUp and Burn Essentials software is provided to help back up your laptop or PC's hard drive. BackItUp and Burn Essentials provides 3 applications in 1. Back up all your files, folders, and drives whenever you want, or schedule the auto back up to a set time for added security. Nero Express gives you the option to burn your files to CD or DVD, and with Nero RescueAgent you have an option to recover files should they become damaged.

Nero BackItUp and Burn Essentials Software is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 (not compatible with Mac OS).

Verbatim Store 'n' Go Portable Hard Drives also comes with Green Button energy saving software. Green Button software suspends the hard drive from spinning while not in use increasing efficiency and saving energy.

There are 3 ‘Sleep Setting’ options. Set the suspend mode to come in after 10 minutes of use, or by increments of 10 minutes up to 120 minutes. Set the drive to suspend immediately by double clicking the Green Button icon on the desktop, alternatively you can set the drive to ‘Never Suspend the disk’.

Nice find. Thanks!

Anyone know if it's any good? Reliable? Can't seem to find much reviews on it.

Edit: Should I go for the Verbatim, this Seagate - amazon.co.uk/gp/…-21, or this Buffalo - amazon.co.uk/Buf…s_t?

Any help would be appreciated.

The two drives you list are USB2, this is USB3, which is 10x faster.... if you have a USB3 port on your laptop or PC.

Is this free delivery then? I thought just free for instore collection??

Seems to be the same error with the Comet website that some people reported yesterday. When you try to choose a store, you get an error - sorry, page your are looking for is not found.....

You are still limited by the speed of the hard drive so USB3 will be 2-3x quicker than a USB2 portable hard drive.

From experience, Verbatim drives are pretty good, usually use Hitachi drives in their externals...

Got this error myself yesterday but got through to the order confirmation stage after a few attempts, the price is worth the effort!

i trade in a verbatim usb 2 320gb for £33 to cex. might get this

They've also got the 1TB version for £78 which is same GB/£ ratio.

comet.co.uk/p/2…288

1TB version seems to be very reasonable option, and collect in person in my local store passed no problem

anybody who got this or collected instore know which drive is inside the case? and maybe a little review of the product?

You are sort of right and wrong..... :-)

A typical hard drive external transfer rate is going to be around 300Mbytes/second. That's the time to get the data off the drive to the interface controller and is significantly in excess of USB3.0 speed, so in that respect you are wrong: The limiting factor is not the drive speed.

However there is a control overhead (as there was on USB2.0) that means the theoretical transfer rate of USB3.0 will not be achieved in terms of pure data transfer.

Hard drive use is, of course, quite erratic and rarely are large continuous streams of data being accessed, it is usually many smaller bursts of data. The reality is USB3.0 external drives, in use, appear much, much faster than USB2.0. Maybe not ten times as fast, but certainly 4-5 times. You can benchmark it all you like, but actually once you get used to USB3.0 and go back to an old drive you'll get irritated by how slow it is!

Definitely worth going for USB3.0 IMO.

Will this portable USB connection plug into my laptop? Not sure if the USB port is the same.
Btw, my laptop is 2 years old.
Thanks

All true enough chaps but without either a USB 3.0 card or the latest spec laptop or PC you're only going to get 2.0 speeds. Your tablet PC, Netbook, games console or tv will also not be 3.0 spec so whilst great for us that replace our PC motherboards or laptops every few years its neither here nor there for the majority out there.

So if you're bothered about drive transfer speeds and have only 2.0 currently then I'd suggest going for a fast 2.0 USB drive.

That aside this deal is mighty tempting even for someone like me currently only able to make use of 2.0 device speeds.

Is there anyway to get this to read large files on a PS3.

You've probably already had this question answered elsewhere but the answer to your question is "yes".
