Thanks ordered. Was just saying yesterday we needed some

Please don’t use SLUG PELLETS they cause a horrific death for many other animals! Including hedgehogs who’s numbers are declining rapidly.

following, we just got a new puppy that will lounge at anything when we take her outside. Concerned she might get lungworm if she ingests some slugs/snails.
plastic pot with a bit of beer in it will do the same.

Just put them in the soil.

I cant think of any cruel free method of basically killing something !.I know in some states in America they use lethal injection, but at the end of the day there still dead. I was going to get some but IF it is true about it harming other animals especially Hedgehogs, which we have in our garden then maybe i will think twice about buying.Otherwise 50p's a bargain.

If you can get hold Of some Holly leaves, sprinkle them around the plants - slugs don't like crawling over them for some reason (!)

Get beer traps... work a treat, and you're "forced" into opening an ale of an evening if the missus gives you the look
I use beer traps also crush up egg shells or sharp sand around plants. I’ll also use plastic strawberry tubs to cover things like dahlias as they come up as that’s when they are most prone.
Be warned that these are white not blue and so the birds seem to eat them.
It's time these were made illegal. Lethal to all types of wildlife and not necessary for controlling slugs. If you encourage hedgehogs to come in your garden they will eat the slugs, as will birds.

I couldn't find any methods to get rid of slugs and snails other than pellets. All those shells, copper, beer trap has minimal effect

My success rates were
1. Using pellets - 60% slugs & 90% snails
2. Nematodes - 80% slugs & 0% snails
3. Ensuring the plants are matured enough in grow box before outside - 90% slugs & 80% snails

Other thing I've done is to mix nematodes in water and put slugs to feed. The bacteria will spread within slugs more faster
update on the beer traps.... no captives, and the french beans have been rinsed little buggers!!! My wife thinks I'm a bit mad as I go off round the garden with a headtorch and tongs before going to bed!
