No, i was referring to first post of this particular thread.
You sure are lazy!! ;-)

Dont buy either of these albums.

After Hendrix died every piece of music he ever recorded was released on albums. This included outtakes, terrible live recordings, demos and other assorted rubbish.

Both these albums are mostly that.

You only have to read the reviews on the web page to see that. People are saying they are not even worth £1.99

Jimi only made a small number of "proper" albums and you should try to get those.

1) First album: Are You Experienced (here it is with a few extra tracks)
amazon.co.uk/Are…1-2

2) Second album: Axis bold as love (great album)
amazon.co.uk/Axi…-11

3) Third album: Electric Lady Land (Double)
amazon.co.uk/Ele…1-5

They were the only "proper" Jimi Hendrix studio albums.

A Jimi Hendrix Greatest Hits came out while he was alive.

The only other album released during his life was Band of Gypsys after the break up of the original Experience trio.

Electric Ladyland (his last studio album) came out in 1968 and he was dead by 1970.

Ever since then everything he ever did, even if it was poor, has been released in one form or another and most of it it rubbish.

These two albums fall into that category.

There is a full discography here, and you can see how little was released during his life (and how much rubbish was released after he died)

I couldn’t agree more; these sorts of CDs are for completists only that must have everything released by an artist regardless of the quality. I’m a big Hendrix fan and this sort of stuff doesn’t interest me even if it’s free. I bought a similar package on vinyl many years ago and took it back for a refund.

Anyone voting this hot is probably doing so without checking what the actual CDs contain.

great price, I also enjoyed First Rays of the New Rising Sun

Coincidentally I've been researching sound quality of Hendrix albums this week. I simply wouldn't waste my money on releases like this.

Buy a proper Jimi album for a few quid more - ]http//ww…EK5 - listen to the music as it was meant to be heard folks

Amazing guy!

Absolutely no one should buy these, even at that price. Neither of them contain the proper recordings of any of Jimi's songs. They're all poor-quality demos/rehearsals. For a fiver you can get a compilation of Jimi's real recordings.

voted cold
agree with the other posts regarding the poor sound quality

Great price but I'm really put off by the reviews.
Even though only £1.99 I'll leave them alone.
Best to get decent recordings.

Agreed, I read the reviews on the site and decided not to buy.

I voted this COLD. A phrase used around my part of the world is, "He knows the price of everything but the value of nothing".

I think the same goes for this post. I close with a quote from the Play site about this CD: "In conclusion this album does little for Jimi as the REAL albums should be bought and nothing else because it is the only safe thing to do. And with CD prices falling all the time why not??".

These are rubbish recordings. Just because something is cheap, doesn't make it good.

i wouldn't bother with these CDs. only worth the price of a plastic CD case.

I'd recommend any Jimi Hendrix fan to get the first 3 albums, First rays Of The New Rising Sun and as much live stuff as you can such as Woodstock, Monterey, Winterland, Filmore East, etc.

Don't know if people actually buy them, but Jimi is one of the most commercially raped artists around. Which is surprising, given the tight control his estate try to exercise. When they're not busy commercially raping him, of course.

Amen brothers, spot on!

hendrix is just a poor clapton

These albums are a complete disappointment - at a bargain price!

Good for beginners? What on earth does that mean?

That's exactly what I was thinking. If these were the first Hendrix albums you bought it would put you off his music.

He’s dead so I don’t think he’s that concerned about money although his estate pulls in rather a lot of money per year. It may be less than Clapton makes but that hardly classifies it as poor.

These are by no means "good" albums but for £2 they have some value. The one with Morrison's Lament on it features Jim Morrison, seemingly worse for wear, screaming "f--k my little baby, in the a**hole" and some other expletives while Hendrix and the bad jam away. Definitely not one for the kiddies.

I agree, I like these obscurities. I guess the version of Tomorrow Never Knows is the one with Morrison drunkenly hollering in the background like a drunk pig. Priceless.

The double CD looks as if the first disc is from the Royal Albert Hall gigs from early 69. There were official releases of these recordings on Ember records called ‘Experience’ and ‘More Experience’ which I bought about 30 years ago. There are some good versions of songs from those gigs and I particularly like Bleeding Heart. If this CD contains those songs in full and not edited and in good condition then it’s definitely worth buying but I still wouldn’t recommend it for a Hendrix novice.
The gigs were filmed and a film was produced although never released due to legal wrangling; I bought a bootleg DVD from eBay that was okay in quality.

The other disc seems to be the infamous club jam with Jim Morrison at his louche worst but if you treat it as a free curio at this price you can’t complain. I remember it being released under the title, ‘Woke up this morning and found myself dead’. All done in the best possible taste of course.

Hendrix was an innovator and a genius. When was the last time Clapton did anything inspiring? I'm not saying Clapton doesn't knock out a good tune now and again but he's just churning out the same old blues licks he always did.

hendrix is just a poor clapton

The irony in that ignorant statement is that Clapton was in awe of Hendrix. He bought Hendrix a left handed Strat just before he died but never got the chance to give it to him. I remember the Hendrix documentary which included an interview with Clapton from the early 70s where he talked about Hendrix. He looked distraught at the end of the interview, very visibly upset at the loss that he felt due to Hendrix’s death.
Then there’s the interview with Pete Townsend in another Hendrix documentary where he talked about how he and Clapton had felt almost threatened when Hendrix hit London in 66. He said that they became friends at that time and the catalyst for it was their mutual appreciation and almost fear of Hendrix’s talent.
Lastly there’s the infamous early Cream gig where Hendrix who’d been in the UK for less than a week asked to sit-in with them which was unheard of. He got on stage and ripped through Killing Floor and Clapton reportedly swore at Jimi’s manager Chas Chandler saying, “You didn’t tell me he was that f***ing good?”

So even if you think Hendrix to be a poor Clapton it’s patently obvious that Clapton himself would completely disagree with you. I enjoy them both, music isn’t meant to be a competition.
