Awful tv with no customer support oh and no software updates for years!

And that’s different to other TV makers in what way? Our Panasonic only ever got one update in the first five years it was allegedly supported
Akira_Cat30/01/2020 22:34

My Sony is telling me they are all going. Time to get a new telly!

I wouldn't get a new TV just because the apps for it are out of date. If it's a good TV otherwise I'd just get a Firestick and you will be sorted for apps.

You get what you pay for, Panasonic actually runs same Os as digihome. Samsung TVs and LG that I have have continuously been updated every few months picking up on every bugs.

Panasonic's Vestel TV's (e.g. 550b, 555b, 680b) run the same OS. Higher up models run Panasonic's own OS.

It might get a couple of software refreshes. A lot of the other software updates will come from the app store or Freeview Play, which are treated separately.
I’ve got one 3 years ago and never had a problem with it.
I bought a digi home tv of the same size almost 4 years ago for a similar price.

Still going fine, no HDR support on mine but still 4k. Not the range of inbuilt apps like a samsung but if you use anything like an xbox one, ps4, firestick etc then it doesn't really matter.

The range of apps on the newer ones is pretty good. It's got:

Netflix
Prime
YouTube
Rakuten TV
Deezer
Chilli Movies
Britbox
iPlayer
ITV hub
All4
My5
UKTVPlay

And a few more popular apps.

ive got 65 inch digihome had it 4 years been spot on never missed a beat , to be honest don't use the smart part of it much , also got a 55 inch digihome in bedroom had that for 2 years and same been spot on , so I cant fault the tv for reliability , sounds a bit tinny use a sound bar
picked up a samsung for 30 quid more using code off this site a few months ago... for that reason i voted cold
love Vestel cheap and great tv no probs at all , fed up of LG updates etc
Vestel lol
Lot of TV for that money.look it's not a LG oled but it's £300 not £1100 so factor that in you TV snobs
Do these guys own toshiba ?
People who buy these at this price are not bothered about all singing and dancing TVs with good screens and really good picture quality. They are happy with a bargain and that’s good, but if you put this next to a decent panel you wouldn’t turn it on again. I see the argument for both sides there is no wrong or right answer. Horses for courses. Some people understand quality and other just want to say they have a 4K big tv and are not bothered about the picture...
Its manufactured by toshiba. Have the TV from this brand for many years now. No issues for regular use.
This is just a rebranded Vestal. 🥶

Vestel is the parent company. They make lots of TVs under different brand names.
Vestel keeping tv engineers in regular work

Ok but it’strue, some people just see badges and size, not the components..
Awful brand, do not touch. USB connections failed as did one HDMI. Channels kept wiping on a regular basis. Went back to seller within 9 months. Take your money elsewhere.
What refresh rate will this use for 4k with my pc?
Only 2 HDMI ports no deal and believe it or not I am looking for a TV now

I don't know why people are laughing at Vestel. o
Vestel is the largest TV producer in Europe accounting for a quarter of the European market. With a turnover of over $3 billion, employing over 15,000 people and selling under licensed brand names such as Toshiba, Hitachi, Panasonic and many own brand labels since 1984, I daresay they must be doing something right.

While that all maybe true when you here vestal you dont think of quality yes vestal have been around for years however they have sold a load of cr@p tvs over the years. 55inchs for under £300 you ain't gonna get top quality but for the big standard customer would do them

Price is not always a mark of quality. The fact that other manufacturers go to China and get their TV's made at a cost $200 - $300 and then ship it to Europe with a huge mark-up doesn't necessarily make them better.

200-300 dollars cost per unit you are joking more like 60-70 dollars which pricedropping and mass shipment in huge quanties. Tvs are not made in china components are Samsung used to make their tvs for the Europe market in slovakia. Hence the reason tvs are cheaper because the majority of tvs share the same components. Now more expensive tvs like oled will be more expensive due to manufacturing cost once cost is dropped they will become cheaper.

I was just being generous thinking of the top of the range flagship models with all the latest tech. Of course, the basic models cost much less.
Poor TV, I took mine back the same day.
well basic rules of life applies : you get what you payed for..
you can pay £287 for a 55" "Digihome" 4K TV or you can pay £1287 for a premium Samsung QLED / Sony OLED 55" 4k TV (or many others in between) the price reflects the quality, features.specs mean nothing,

Not sure about that. Vestel builds many TVs, as one of the biggest tech companies in Europe. The TVs range in price as do the brands they make.
