Cheaper and less obtrusive than a decent sound bar, a good idea this. Hot from me.

How does this combine with your existing TV speakers?
I think when I output my TV sound via optical out to external speakers, the TV speakers are turned off (I may be mistaken).

In general most tv speakers remain on...but i imagine thats just a tv-specific question to be honest

What's the output in watts?

Ordered!
Thanks

I'm always amazed by the companies that can have such a differential between their prices on ebay and amazon- this is £39.99 on their Amazon shop.

Still going to sound pants but a lot cheaper than a decent sound-bar

great find op

hot here

On my LG PM670T, there is an option to allow the speakers to remain on or off, also, I think there are some adapters that allow for L/R channel audio from a SCART socket (SCART can be an output too).

Ok, I think I have too many speakers off HUKD now

GREAT find! Hot from me!

Had the cheaper OptiSound TV5 for a while now - for £25 it's been superb, only have the bass turned up to around 1/4 and it add's a huge amount of low end to the Speakers on my Panasonic Plasma.

Of course it's not 'Hi-Fi' nor is it going to match a decent sound bar, but for £35 in this case I'd say it's 100% worth it to add some bass to your TV for movies/ gaming etc.

Omg epic find thank you so so much
I purchased the goodmans sound bar on ukdeals like a week ago and returned it as it wouldnt work with my tv, so i needed one with an optical port AND YOU FOUND IT FOR ME

^_^ ^_^

Managed to get the TV5 one when they were clearing them out in Game for £5! At that price it was an impulse (but once in a lifetime) buy, though after using it I'd say it's probably worth this price

ordered, will give it a go, seems a good price

oops, just bought the tv5 one for £24.99 80w instead of 100w

Much difference in sound quality you think?

Depends on the TV. My guess would be if it turns off the TV sound when outputting through digital then using an RCA cable from the scart socket of your TV will do the trick.

Tempting

As this is a sub, you can quite happily use an analogue cable and output direct to the sub, while keeping your tv speakers active.
The sound quality shouldnt be an issue.
It is a cheap sub, so dont expect miracles.
But, I would definitely recommend this over a sound bar, any day of the week.

The problem with most TVs is that they lack bass (their mid and upper frequencies are actually pretty decent). This sub will reach the low frequencies that most soundbars (or TVs) could only dream of and at a fraction of the price.

I still cant understand why anybody in their right mind would spend money on a soundbar - it amazes me that soundbars actually sell for more than £5. Better to spend £100 on a 5.1 speaker system (available from Amazon) - this will give you true 5.1 sound...something even a £1k soundbar could never do.

Excellent price!

WWill it be any good for sony w95?

So can this be connected to a soundbar?

If you don't mind refurbished? I'd like to know if there's much difference between this and the previous tv5 version? and if the difference is really worth spending the extra few quid...

Yeah difference is about 20W

Purchased, see how it sounds on my new panasonic

Yeah, I kinda guessed that Willy! But that's just volume, not sound quality. I'm sure most people won't be using 100w on a regular basis so 80 will more than suffice...

About the workaround connections - Scart etc - this wont gang the volume alongside the TV volume so this woofer will be at same volume when TV is turned right down or muted. You need a connection where the volume varies with the TV volume, e.g. an analogue subwoofer output would do.

Amazon has these at £39.99 free P&P not £81 as stated at top here.

The TV5 is 10 x 10 x 10 cm while the TV6 is 25 x 25 x 25. Some Amazon reviews mentioned the TV6 being a bit large and unsightly. So actually the 5 may suit some better, still gets good reviews.

mmmm i found on my tv that the sound from an external source was slightly out of sync with my tv speakers, so this wouldnt work for that particular situation....

Word of warning, this may not work fully or at all with some TV's, I got this from Amazon a while ago, I wanted bass but no soundbar and here's the review I posted there:

This is quite cheap for what you are getting I was afraid it might … This is quite cheap for what you are getting I was afraid it might compromise on sound but it sounds great. I used it with my Sony KDL42W653 via the analog connection as this worked best.Using the digital connection worked but the volume of the sub was not controlled by the tv, that meant that the bass would range from too loud at lower volumes to too quiet at higher volumes. It also meant that when muting the tv the sub still put out sound.I tried this on a Samsung F5500 which exhibited the same behaviour on digital but I was not able to get it to work with the analog connection as the sound stopped coming from the tv entirely. So you have to be careful as some tvs may not work correctly with it.Though it has the problems above I rated it 5 stars as they are working within the constraints given to them and the unit itself is well built and sounds good.

Voted hot either way because as I said in my review it's a good unit and it's not their fault TVs won't work with it.
