If you just want to play a few records and aren't that bothered about sound quality these are fine!
Most second hand records we buy were almost certainly played on worse than this in the past.
I disagree entirely that used records will have been poorly looked after either or that folks universally would have junk turntables. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a reasonable turntable, this is not one.
