For those who had their ordered cancelled by Scam for the Acer this is a decent deal.

Viewsonic PX747-4k projector for lowest price it's ever been. Yep it's "faux k" but reviews on Youtube are good, it looks to be a clone of the Benq TW800 and it's bright enough to use in a living room (this has an RGBW colour wheel which gives a brighter picture but at the expense of some colour accuracy. The PX727 has the more accurate RGBRGB wheel but you can't get em anymore)

Spec wise it's not as good as the Acer deal but then again we all know now that that deal never actually existed!

Amazon had a 600 quid hot tub priced for 56 quid. Load of us risked it and ordered.

Unsurprisingly the orders were cancelled so a load of us called and complained and got a credit to our accounts (I got £40)

Next day we got text messages from the courier saying a parcel from Amazon was on it's way.

Two days later hot tubs started turning up! We contacted Amazon after a few days and were told as the orders had been cancelled they couldn't arrange for them to be collected so we could do with them what we want!

Some got 6!!!!
I wish they stopped making DLP it sucks, it makes you feel so ill from rainbows.

In my book colour accuracy is far more important than pixel count. HDR is more beneficial than 4K. Are there any projectors that can project HDR images?

This can do HDR and there is an Optoma 1080p ,projector that does HDR and 1080p but HDR on a projector while nice to have is nowhere near as good as on a TV due to the nature of the technology

Can it? That's good. So it does 4K HDR. Do you know how many nits?

Nits is irrelevant on a DLP projector. Yep HDR will look "better" but it won't be reference quality as you will never get proper black blacks or local dimming. This will give good whites due to the color wheel though.
Even an OLED telly can't do proper reference HDR as you get the blacks but loose the brightness.

Very helpful thanks.
Or save your money and just go to an IMAX cinema.

Films nowadays are made in 2k due to the time/money saving from having to render special effects in 4k so even an IMAX is "technically" faux K" as it's just being upscaled.albeit on a massive screen although my 92" screen from 2.5m away is plenty big enough for me.

BTW the Star Wars prequels were made in 1080p!

I have this projector and it is definitely a great one. Takes a little time to start up and the brightness is great. I can even use it in the daytime with Windows open.

I purchased this a year ago for £450 which was a great bargain.

How would having less choice benefit anyone? It's good to have competing display technologies and there are pros and cons to everything.

Missed that one, congrats! Presumably someone has already made the joke about a hot tub 'time machine'

Unfortunately there are negatives for both DLP and LCD projectors. I prefer LCD because members of our family are sensitive to the rainbow effect which can cause headaches etc to some people. The downside I've found to LCD is slight motion blur in very fast scenes however this is a small price to pay rather than feeling ill.
The good news is the technology is moving on as projectors becomie more popular and fall in price. Improved DLP processing and faster refresh rates for LCD will hopefully give a better viewing experience on future models.
