Viners (in the above link) say that this is Contour Cutlery Set is "Handwash Only" (can't see reviews of anyone cleaning these in a dishwasher).

18/10 cutlery and cookware are heavier, shinier and more resistant to tarnishing than cheaper equivalents. This set has a 50 Year Guarantee!

Set contains: 4 x dinner knives, 4 x dinner forks, 4 x dessert spoons, 4 x teaspoons.

However, Kaleidoscope's description says "Dishwasher Safe"? I would err on the side of caution and go with the manufacturer's description - as others state Handwash also.

£149 from Kaleidoscope (OOS) kaleidoscope.co.uk/pro…99_

Ah, that's no good, didn't last long then!
ordered - price up to £40 now --- heat
Luckily I was still awake and got it for £23.37. It does now seem to have increased to £39.97 when added to basket. Still a good deal for those of you who buy Viners normally.
Thanks Louise. Was thinking about the Warehouse one but paid the little extra for brand new. Just in case Viners get funny if encounter issues in the future.

Unsure if this is a new design; or what makes it dearer than other Viners 16 piece sets. Looking on the Viners website the other 16 sets are around £34.50 to £56 mainly. The Nala set is another expensive set.

Hope the finish doesn't scratch off. A different Viners set on Amazon has quite a few 1 stars reviews with finish issues: amazon.co.uk/Vin…TF8

Could be a bad batch.

Wondering if it is the old company quality? Whether the Rayware Group are utilising the name to maximise profit at the expense of quality items?.

I have a Viners 18/10 Cutlery Set (though not in Gold colour, I'm guessing this is a new fad - and it's Dishwasher-safe) bought from TK Maxx and is over ten years old, still robust, shiny and looking good I'm pretty sure mine had a similarly long guarantee - I'm sure it will outlive me.
Had a look: rayware.co.uk/abo…us/ and they also own Mason Cash.

Shame there isn't a 24 piece set for a couple of pounds more. Great spot for this 16 piece set.

Hope it is more chocolate in colour than gold. Screen displayed colour vs actual colour can sometimes be quite different.

Could be a fad. I saw a metalic mutli-coloured set in TK Maxx recently. Each piece had the same set of colours on them. Looked funky but it was an unknown brand. I don't think they were 18/10. Bit like this Asda set:

Yeah, I think it's cos of the unicorn trend - maybe - not really my thing. Saw knives in the iridescent style too. I'd rather have substance over superficiality. Maybe if I was younger and dafter I'd be tempted, I'm a bit more conservative now

Ordered. Cheers :-)
sometimes it pay to pay for more,i brought some lovely bronze 16 piece or 12, fiver from pound shop , a week's, month later, there look rusty, green, with the bronze coming off.
Mine arrived. The Viners box the set came in was not sealed. Cuttlery was all loose inside. 3 knives sealed in plastic bags. Everything else not. Sheet of foam and a folded instruction and guarantee card.

There are little line marks on the majority of the items where the finish colour is missing. Some are a lot more visible than others. I assume where it was resting on something in the manufacturing process. 33469742-hha1G.jpgFor those who ordered this; did your set arrive in a similar state and with finishing issues like mine?

I am unsure how clear the photo shows the narrow line of unfinished colour. Might have to try to take a better photo or look through to find the worse item.

Sorry, thetarget, somehow I missed your reply. Boyf has actually bought a similar set (lesser RRP though!) called Nala (here amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1 ) but with a similar coating/colour in 18/10 steel.

I'll ask him what he thinks of his, he hasn't moaned about it so maybe you've been unlucky? I'll edit this post when I speak to him.

Edit: He's just said he can't see anything wrong with his (Nala) set and it looks fine to him. All I could advise is a return and hope that Amazon send a more pristine set out as a replacement. Hard to say if it's an issue with certain styles - there were no reviews when I posted this, and I'm unsure if this is your review, but here is a recent one:

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality (could just be a particular batch)
27 March 2018 Verified Purchase
I am unsure if there is just a faulty batch of this product; or if the item is just generally poorly produced. Having received 3 sets supplied directly from Amazon; each set with similar manufacturing faults to the finish. Most had line marks on either side of each piece not in the finished colour. Probably how a machine has gripped them. Additionally, a graze effect was present on the base of a large spoon head. Really poor quality control. It is rather shocking as this is currently the most expensive 16 piece set on the Viners website. Amazon is unable to send me one from a different batch. Even though Viners had informed me Amazon should be able to do this.
