As a lactose intolerant person I’ve tried a few of these. While none are true cheese flavour the Violife is by far the best flavour, especially the white not-cheese. This is able to melt on gluten and dairy free bread to make something that resembles cheese on toast that is edible.

We use this for a while now and in my experience it does not really melt on pizza or lasagne, toast etc., or at least not in the same way cow's milk cheese does. It does get nice and soft though, and amongst the other 'free from' cheeses we found this the best alternative. In fact, if you buy the same in a block and grate on top of your lasagne, it gets nice and crispy.

Nb: heat for the price.
