Hi,

I've been a virgin customer for 6 years. las year been paying for the same deal £44 then last month my customer discount expired and whent to £55.
So i've called them, asked for redemption team, got offered £44 again. DECLINED and asked them fo close the contract, 30 days notice.
2 days later, got a call from "disconection" team and been offered £31 for the same services I had before. Less then I've ever paid for this.

Haggle works!

Say 200mb but feels like 15mb between 4pm-11pm
I 'left' Virgin about 10 months ago as Quidco were offering £160 to switch to BT. Processed the switch to BT via their site. 2 days later Virgin phoned me to say they'd give me 100MB Internet, weekend calls and keep my Tivo box for £11 a month. I said OK, phoned BT and cancelled the order. A month later I recieved the £160 Quidco. True story.
Been with virgin many years n always maxed the speed out regardless of time of day.
Always go through retentions and get a good deal.
They just offered me this package recently for £28 or £24 for the 100mb one.
But finally leaving as ultra fibre is been installed in my area
So going to have 1000mb for £21.70 per month.

Sounds good, just reminded me to ask to leave after 11 years..
My man.
Same deal here but I was paying £35 originally. 30 days notice period is beginning next month, wish me luck
I only have BB, pay £22, took me a whole get them down
Good deal, if only I hadn't just joined and currently waiting 6-8 weeks for them to install the damn cable

Ow wow. An engineer showed up at my place next day after I ordered the internet. Don't know what's taking them so long.

never had a problem with the speed. and I make a lot of traffic.
It happened the same way with me but I made the mistake a few years ago of dropping my tv package down to get a better price. I was at £47/month for the above with the lowest tv package but I held on and thankfully managed to get it all for £27 per month. Honestly, stick it out if you can. I have always had a call back and I've been with them for 18 years.

Yeah, it's all a bit of a mess really. Years ago cabletel put cable in all the way up to the neighbours but not ours (because it turns into private property with right of access for rest of road and they wanted permission to do what whatever they liked to our driveway).

Been with BT since but fed up with the crap speeds, got reassured by virgin we could get connected, super easy - great.

Nope, engineer turned up, angry to find we didn't actually have a cable, tried to get one installed but they refused because it was Saturday and contractors couldn't be arsed. Then got told they need council permission to dig up from cabinet down road and need to put in application which will take 6-8 weeks to get and install a cable.
My contracts coming up for renewal soon, I will have to mull over "leaving"
Can you cancel the cancel within the thirty days?

I get 100mb through the day then between them times i get about 6mb lol
Luck of the draw and time of call I think. Cracking deal if you get it. I tried a few weeks ago. No haggling success that time. Good deal tho.

Lucky you, i was on 50mb broadband for £18 a month last year, they increased it to £34 (almost doubled), i've given them disconnection notice 15 days ago, but didn't get any call for a deal, i called myself asked for a deal but nothing

Heat anyways ...!!!

Can't fault Virgin's broadband. However, I can fault their crappy homehubs. I am lucky enough to have a Superhub 2. i use the word lucky very loosely as it's really bad for online gaming. However, Putting it into modem mode and connecting a 3rd party router fixed all my issues.

If you where to join Virgin now. They will give you a Superhub 3. Which is so bad for online gaming. Even if you use a 3rd party router like I do with the SH2 it will still be bad for online gaming. Due to the Puma 6 chip inside the SH3.

Just take a look at the virgin forums and you will see what am talking about.

same here lol
I was with them for 15 to 20 years, tried this again this xmas and never got the call back from the disconnections team!!!

ended up with BT, paying the same that virgin wanted to charge me going forward! the cashback and mastercard deal dont reduce the cost all that much.

*my speeds with virgin were fine at all times of day. superhub 2 was always faulty. Got a hub3 and worked great all the time. Only issue being how hot it runs.

Also the BT tv box is awful!!! virgin was my favourite GUI of sky/bt/virgin...
Interesting you guys got callbacks. I cancelled my contract because all they would give me was £1 off and they just said goodbye. That was 3 reps. Perhaps I wasn't a customer long enough
200mbs... in the U.K? Seriously, what speed do you get
200 in UK, averages out at about 210 - 215 at all times day and night. Ping 18 -34
Company has been around for soooo long and still not available where I live. Tin pot company

Thanks, you reminded me to chase TBC for my £140 Virgin cash back they've been promising me
Virgin is a very good company to negotiate with. Last month disconnection notice was fruitful, they gave me weekend calls, basic TV and 100Mb broadband for £21 for 12 months on a 12 month contract. I think they’re the cheapest.
I've just been offered 100mb broadband for £28 from the loyalty team after initiating a disconnection after 8 years. Doesn't seem like a very good deal now.

Exactly...for online gaming like FIFA it's hurrendous...even with ethernet connected my speeds don't surpass 35mb/s (PS4 pro) yet I'm on the 200mb speed...think I need to buy a 3rd party router like you.
200mb and weekend calls. I cancelled and got the call back and now on £21 pm

I think you need to find an offer where it is cheaper elsewhere and explain you are going to them instead then you get a call back. Not alot of sub £25 fibre optic broadband deals around at the moment though. They lowered mine to £20 a month for 12 months from £33 cause I said im leaving for talk talk which were offering £19 at the time.

Same. Going back to BT's Slowband would be painful.

Kerching!

Best I could manage was a boost to 100Mb/s (was on 50), basic TV package, weekend calls and £60 credit on my account for £29/month. Now I feel shafted! Ah well, at least the service is good, and I've been really hammering it since getting a 4K TV!
I did the same last month. A week or so ago, I was called by their retentions team and they gave me 300MB broadband and phone for £29 p/m on a 12 month contract.
What is the longest people have waited for redemption team to call? As mine has been over a week now
Similar thing happened with me

Annoyed at the second price hike which would have made me pay 48/month for just 50mb broadband (70 after renewal given network upgrades), I said I want to cancel

I genuinely wanted to, they sent emails. Then the next morning a call from a different person team

Negotiated hard, £29 for 100mb fibre, weekend calls and basic TV with tivo

I got £100 quidco from bt doing something similar...
Last time i got a price hike i cancelled as i have done many times,Retentions rang 2 days later and i finished up paying £2 less than i was and a free v6 box.
Should be matching Vodafone's prices rather than faster speeds but good deal so heat added

This isn't accurate. I have never suffered a disconnection on FIFA and been with Virgin for 5 years.
Oh good stuff. I think I'll need to have a chat with Virgin soon. I don't really want their TV service and I definintely don't need a landline anymore but I want to keep my 300MB service but £66 quid a month is insane.
