Virgin Bigger Bundle £49/m + £35 setup - £50 bill credit - possible £130 Quidco (M200/BT Sport 4K/Phone)

(Ammended figures as it looks like they changed bill credit from £100 to £50 or I misread it, not such a good deal IMO now).

M200 Broadband: 213Mb/20Mb
Bigger TV: BT Sport 4K + 220 Channels
Phone : Basic Phone, no included calls

12 Month Contract
£49/m + £35 Setup = £623
- £50 Bill credit = £573 (Or you can have the case of wine)
- £130 Quidco = £443 (Not Guaranteed, but paid last time for me)

Net Cost = £36.91/m (with Quidco) or £47.75 (without Quidco)

Switched to Virgin last year and my deal is coming to an end. I had BT before, so have the Openreach socket installed and line run, but Plusnet are saying they can't find a stop line and want to do an engineer install.

OpenReach can be unreliable at the best of times, so figure its best to stick with Virgin under current lockdown. Dont want to risk losing service, therefore considering taking this deal under my Wifes name.

For comparison last year I got M100, Maxit TV, Phone @ £45/m with £220 Quidco, so £26.66/m net.

This deal equates to £36.91/m net if the Quidco pays out. So not as good, although you get faster broadband (only the upload will be useful for us).

If you can wait, then they recently had similar deal with Nintendo switch or £150 account credit thrown in. That might come around again.

I posted this deal last week and the net cost has gone up £2:

hotukdeals.com/dea…493

Might have to take this one as i'll be cutting it close waiting for next week. But for those that can wait, beginning of March they offered £150 bill credit or Nintendo Switch. Not sure if that will come around again.

You should get better deals through cancellation than new customer deals.

I currently pay £28 for 350mb bb.
I dont have TV though through Virgin, as much prefer the Sky Q box to the horrible virgin box.
Damn it, sure it said £100 for Bigger bundle when I read it a few hours ago.

Now it says £100 for Bigger + Movies or Bigger + Sports

Going to amend the deal. Dont think its very good now

Thanks for pointing that out.

So far no luck

I have Sky Q for TV aswell. Only go Virgin for the BT Sport 4K as its cheapest way to get it, (plus its 4K).

I appreciate there's no sport on right now. But my concern is if I go with cheapest option for broadband, when sport restarts I'll wipe out any savings I've made due to the cost of BT Sport on Sky (£29.99).

My main problem with it other than everything, was how loud the hard drive was inside, just vibrates so much constantly.

Sky Q is leagues ahead of the V6 in all areas IMO. Aside from if there's really bad weather I guess, Virgin doesn't drop out.

I have mine in a comms cupboard, so haven't noticed the noise. But I only use it for BT Sport 4K anyway.

I was talking about the Virgin Box, it's just so loud and the software is slow... programming the remote sucks.

I'm gonna cancel it and go broadband only as we haven't used it in a year, just used freeview as it is so poor.

The original boxes were loud and have been really improved.

I keep mine on top of a tea towel and cant hear the hard drive in the latest model.

So was I

I have both. Sky Q full package in 4K. And Virgin, which I got with Broadband as it was cheapest route to get BT Sport last year.

Never use the Virgin box apart from BT Sport. Sky Q is so much better User Interface and Experience. Only advantage Virgin has, is if there's really bad weather then sometimes the Sky reception drops out. But thats so rare, it hasn't really mattered.

But can't comment on noise as both boxes are tucked away in a comms cupboard.
Think I'm going to wait another week as its £50 bill credit not the £100 I thought when I posted

Will be cutting it pretty fine, but going to roll the dice I think.

Yup it is a noisy box, having an afternoon snooze of the sofa damn thing wakes up to update or defrag nearly everyday.

Does anyone know... when virgin install the wiring for the tv and broadband... do they do a clean work inside and outside the flat or do they leave wires all over the place?

When they did my new installation back in April, they made sure that all the wiring was secured to the wall using wall tacks, the only loose bit of cable is the one going from the wall box that they screwed to my wall which has a white cable going from that box to back of there V6 box, apart from that they did a very tidy job

They largely did a reasonable job when they installed ours last year. They wanted to run it across the front wall as it was the easiest route. But I wanted it hidden, so they took the longer more convoluted route.

Only negative was they smashed the face of the brick they drilled through to bring the cable into the house. I live in a old house with London Yellow stock bricks, so am prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt on that, as they can be unpredictable.
Sorry just went out and realised they planted the wire at the front of the flat... during installation can they move it towards the car park (back of the flat)...? Sorry for all the questions but I have a feeling it wont go ahead if I don’t think ahead

I'm guessing there was no cable run to the boundary of your property. I had the same issue, as my property was a repossession, all the services had been ripped out prior to my purchasing.

The engineers that come to install don't deal with running the cable from the junction box to the property boundary. Theres a different team that do that. When my Engineer came to install and found the cable missing, he had to call them. Then came back after they'd run it to my boundary.

I presume thats why you have had the first visit as well. They must have known there was no cable run to the boundary, so sent them out to do that in advance. The second engineer should be happy to run it however you want from there. But bare in mind they can't dig a new trench from the junction box. Wherever the underground ducting runs to in your boundary, thats where the run will have to start from.
Has anyone had a fresh install in the last 2 weeks... been hearing virgin cancel last minute
Odd I can't see the expire button. This offer is over now.
