Where does it say 80mb?
Avoid, difficult to get off Virgin, especially if you want to keep your number, and they really jack up the prices once your contract ends

It's not about speed, to play online games you only need 1mb up and 1 down, with gaming it's about line quality and having low latency/ping. Wired is always more stable with less interference. That's why I always recommend getting lowest fiber optic speeds

I jump between sky and virgin have them both on live chat and whoever gives me the best deal get signed.. Last 3yrs its been virgin

But then theres plans to stop companies hiking prices outside of contract coming which will most probably kill off the cheaper 1st Year deals..

Wouldn't touch Vermin with a 10 foot stick after past experience with them. COLD.

He can't because it was in his imagination

I got the 100mb and £50 credit too, it was a retention deal though.

Just got my £3.50 increase, getting too often and retentions is not what it used to be.

You threaten to leave and do it after every price increase on 200 BB only 6 months at £17 two at £20 and rest of the year at £23. With the announced price rise they have already offered to credit the increase for 6 months but our price rise doesn’t come though until next week so will be pushing for more.

I can tell you it often doesn't work, or still leaves it more expensive than leaving, having tried to help several people haggle with them.

you have to cancel, have your marketing preferences so they can call you and hope retentions call, plenty of threads on here over the years and in recent months of people getting deals, and now is the best time as they get so many calls after the price rise. Keep an eye in misc there are two threads about the price rise and people will start to post their deals there.

Hmmm, you can see why people might not want to go to that bother, and just hope? Especially when you can still save more money by staying with Openreach companies and switching at the end of every contact for the cashback offers.

The deals you are offered when you phone up to cancel are not the best, even after being put through to cancellations team. You have to follow through and insist on giving 30 days notice to cancel. As said, make sure you have marketing preferences set to 'On' otherwise you won't get a call. After a week or two the 'OutBounds' team will call you and start the final negotiating deal stage where the best deals come. Don't be tempted to just agree to their first gambit even if it is very attractive.....there is room to negotiate further eg. bill credit sweetner, upgrade to the next BB speed for the same price etc etc

If all else fails, re-sign up in another person in your households name as a new customer to start on the day of the finishing of your 30 day notice

we will have to just disagree, of course you have to have your marketing preference set or they cannot call you its part of GDPR, though I have never had any other calls off them in the last 6 years of being a customer.

If you play it right it wont be more expensive and for our area we can get 20MB speeds via the competition and 200MB with Virgin and pay less. If you are happy then dont use them but this is a deal site and most people are getting deals with Virgin.
When are the broadband "sales" usually done by the better quality providers (Plusnet/Voda/Sky/BT - your mileage may vary!)? I know black friday is a good time for deals but do any do summer sales?
Also, you can get 108mbps unlimited plus weekend calls and line rental for £25 from Virgin plus £75 credit (i.e. £18.75/m effectively) via moneysavingexpert's broadband comparison
