I just checked my Virgin broadband account and there's a note there saying that I can have a free increase from my current 60 Mb to 100 Mb broadband, if I commit to a year.
Given that I'll likely be with them for a year regardless, it's effectively something for nothing.

Haven't got one in mine...
Indeed it is; I was hoping this offer would also increase my upload from 3mb to 10mb - something they took off me when I "dropped" from the old 50mb to the new 60mb broadband tariff.
Not really a deal, should of been in freebies, but thanks for the heads up OP.
"Right now you have our up to 60Mb broadband. That's really fast, but between July and December 2014 you'll be able to upgrade to super speedy up to 100Mb broadband at no extra monthly cost. All you need to do to upgrade is agree to a new 12 month contract. We'll email you when it's ready."
Not really worth of it, virgin media is very slow all the time. They promise 60 mbps speed but sometimes it takes 30-120 seconds to open a web page during day time.
I had BT before and it was super fast but price was good enough too!
Well wouldn't it be a deal seen as you're signing another 12 month contract in the process, hence spending money?
Wow, ours is fine on 60mb. Haven't you rung them up? Your power levels could be too high or too low. Try ringing them or post on the forums. They are really helpful on the forums and are actual VM staff who will book appointments and test your line to make sure
No, because your only pre-registering your interest in the service, not signing a new contract there and then.

Eventually they'll upgrade you without having to sign up again
...however as we can only get 2-3 Mbs with Sky or BT I guess we're stuck with them.
I guess that 152mb is in a message to customers already on upto 100mb? As I get a change in service next week, so that will be a nice little freebie next year.

I'm on 30mb to, I don't think it's a general speed increase, I think it's targeted to get people tied in for a year (when BT may be offering better deals)
I'm a bit skeptical.
I usually re-negotiate my contract around February for a year, which is usually always after they bang the price up so I think I'll wait until next Feb and use the information then when I negotiate.
I'd be surprised if it did.
Upload has always been pants for me on Virgin Media - I get quicker upload speeds on my Orange 3G than I do on Virgin's cable.
I moved onto talktalk as it was the only way to increase my upload speed without paying more.

looks like this offer is area/account specific, good deal for those that can get it though.
when I had 20Mb with them, after the first GB of data they would throttle me to about 1/4 of my normal speed
so what's the point getting 100Mb? so you can download with 25Mb after your download the first GB of data?
my 20Mb with Sky **** all over my old VM connection, no caps no bloody throttling. Now with 40Mb down / 10Mb up I'm flying
VM? cold cold cold
VM have never throttled me and I download **** loads. So your experience is specific to you. Thanks.
Can't wait
I currently have the SuperHub for my 60mbit.
Would they offer it FoC or do you need to pay?
I'll probably look for them to reduce the monthly price, rather than this 'upgrade'.
As for "throttling" ... ok, just consider the current 60Mb product to be a 50Mb product that sometimes is a bit faster than it should be.
I am lucky if I get 70Mb at off peak times, much slower at other times and the top package was promised not to be throttled at any time.
In other words, don't get too excited about wild promises from VM
