virgin media 10Mbits fiber optic cable unlimited broadband + phone line rental for only £241 for the whole year.

or £12.50 net per month for 2Mb including phone line rental. excludes router though.

£241 includes one off £30 installation fee, your phone line rental(normally £10.50 with BT), a free wireless router(normally £30), and the price is after quidco(£65)

so 241 divided to 12 month = £20!

they also have cheaper packages available like 2Mb broadband, with TV channels etc..

if you dont require the phone line its £2 cheaper per month.

i personally went for the 20mbits/phone deal. bear in mind that they dont do a 12month 20mb broadband only deal but 18 which works out more expensive by the way.

you do not need more than 2Mb if you arent into downloading to be honest. pages on the net do not open faster.

dont forget quidco!

any questions? follow the link and click on "talk to us" option on top right corner available during working hours for real time chat!

i believe tiscali is doing similar deals however i and my friends always had bad experience with them so i personally wouldn't deal with them anymore..

I pay £17.99 for 10mb, mine has been upgraded. I ring everytime my offer is over and they renew it for 3-6mths but this time they renewed it for 12mths (no contract). I would give them a ring and tell them you want it cheaper.

may have to give them a call myself. on 2mb,basic phone line and "free view TV" at a cost of £22 ish ( cant remember proper price.

I like how you got in the fibre optic bit . .

It Iritates me to no end they use this claim without explaining that you wont get fibre anywhere near your door.

I dont know if its a good deal or not as I use Be and dont go comparing anyone else but dont let this claim make up your mind as Fibre to the home wont be available for a long while yet!

Also just browsing the VM website they claim no one is faster. . . I think they are wrong there again as I get faster than they can offer which is also uncapped unlike VM

i pay 40.50 for xl phone, xl bb and xl tv....been on that deal for 12 months now

one question guys: why voted(so) cold? lol

its line rental but suerly u need to add a phone package?

virgin have provisionally signed up to phorm,

which is a company that used to do root kits and with their new product gives you the feature of them spying on all your internet traffic, so they can sell your browsing habits to advertisers to make money from you

the words: 10ft BT pole barge would not touch

comes to mind

it's only in test mode at the moment theregister.co.uk/200…dc/

scary! i thote virgin media was good! i cant believe they would sell their customers browsing habits to advertisers! really thote that branson guy was decent- shame on him!

That's because BT suck I would never recommend BT broadband to anyone. . .

Its all about how close to the exchange with ADSL and if that exchange is unbundled too

500 metres from my local and get 23meg down and 1.3 up with the choice to double my upload for £6 pm

Check here for the distance to your local exchange .....if less than 1200-1500 metres then its worth having a read around

Branson does not own VM - Shareholder - yes Owner - no

i get 2MB broadband
Family TV pack size XL
phone line (that never gets used)

£28.50 a month.

I called them this week to upgrade broadband to 10MB & they said it would be £14.50 exttra a month.
Even though on their website it says £7 extra a month?

Can get 8meg inc line rental for cheaper than £20 quid ......also it aint superfast broadband not by todays standards anyway

Can get more than 20 meg for less than 30 and 2meg for 12.50 is a rip off

Also i never voted as i said before i dont know how good this deal is as i would never change to VM anyway

I got the 10MB broadband from VM with a free router for £16 (£17 - £1 for Ebilling)...for 6 months with no contract to sign.
This was an upgrade from £2MB for £10 which I had for more than a year now.

I prefer to use VoIP for phone calls....provided by voipcheap.com
For 10 Euros per 90 days, you can make unlimited calls to more than 40 countries in addition to making free local + national landline calls.
You can also use the 10 Euro credit to call mobiles and abroad.

i know, im an LLU (local loop unbundling) expert as they say...was involved in the 2nd LLU for my sins...

C&W Bulldog was the first, Wanadoo (now part of Orange) was the 2nd, closely followed by AOL, Be and others....

its not just how close you are to the exchange, also depends if the isp is throttling the connection, quality of kit, etc

Not sure how Be got away with quoting 24mb/s, when at the time fastest DSLAM* was 23.7mb/s (i know as the network designer did Be's and Wanadoo's design), so to get that you would have to live in the exchange, no throttling etc...ruddy marketing planks!!

*box of tricks installed in an exchange that allows faster connections across telephone lines

id be surprised if you got 23mb/s as well...tests such as speedtest.net are 100% accurate...though according to that i get about 16-17m/s, though have sometimes got almost 20mb/s

Ok so are you saying no one on be syncs at the full 24meg ?? cause 23.7 is maximium ??

Strange how there is 32 pages in the bethere forum discussing how they sync at 24576kbps
which being the expert you are would know that works out to be exactly 24meg.

Now that's taken directly from router logs or using DMT with fastpath enabled ,No speedtest involved (im sure you meant "not %100 accurate" as that statement is untrue atm)and also using newsbin tells me that i get 2.6Mb/sec.

Also not nitpicking at all ....but I think it was bulldog and easynet (aka ukonline) who were the 1st two LLU isp's to accept customers
