Virgin, who undoubtedly offer great Wifi speeds, however provide very poor hardware - their Hub 3 has extremely poor range. They have a new Hub 4 but they are only rolling this out for the premium packages and even then I have read this has poor range too. I wasted so much time trying to resolve over the phone. You will end up forking extra money for something like a mesh system.
And even once you get the hardware sorted pray nothing else goes wrong because Virgin's service is staggeringly poor. Ring up with a question and get an Indian based operator who makes no pretence to be able to help you, they just say thank you for your question I've forwarded your details to the right department, then hang up. Very unlikely that you'll ever get a reply.

My broadband packed up the other day and the phone keypress sequence to get help takes your address then an automated voice says thank you for your query, we have emailed instructions to help set up your router. No effort to find out what the problem was and no option at any stage to speak to an operator.

This is the same with all providers. I have found no one is better than another.
Its Same story with Vodafone, 1st line Asia, 2nd line Some one from Cairo, now they have pushed my case to 3rd line,to reach 3rd line support in UK it takes 6 days. Worst service with Vodafone . My Home Broadband drops to 8 mb speed between 6.30 PM and 11.30 PM, they made me do all sort of things, Change DND< DDNS< PLUG INTO TEST SOCKET< TEST WITH LAN CABLE< no one understands its the the traffic which is busy as they have Red line during peak hours. Jokers.
Very cheeky putting you on an 18 month contract but then only providing a 'perk' for 12 months of it. Screams of one department in Virgin agreeing to change people's minimum terms without getting agreement from the Marketing team...
Virgin is Crap. Fighting for my £75 voucher for 5 months. Finally get answer saying that they sent it to my email address 4 month ago and period to redeemed it was 90 days. They lie, I have never received email with voucher. But I have all bills from them what they never forget to sent and charge me

Just don't do it. Pull your own teeth out. It'll be less painful in the long run....

I'm currently using the hub 3 in modem only mode, purchased an expensive netgear router a couple of years ago which has been great but it looks a monstrosity in our living room lol, now I've upgraded to the 1gb broadband they're sending their hub 4 to me this week, I was hoping it would be better than the hub 3 so I wouldn't have to use the netgear with it plus I'm not sure my netgear would be compatible with the new 1gb speeds
Virgin's customer service is truly dire and is the one reason I'm avoiding going back to them despite the internet speeds I get via Openreach being poor.
They have decent speeds until a few people in your area start watching Netflix at the same time. Then, you call them to complain and they tell you there is nothing they can do (i.e.: nothing they want to do as anything they do will cost money and they can't pass that bill onto their customers)
I would avoid VM when possible.
The good news though is that it's incredibly easy to complain about Virgin at cedr.com/. Keep track of emails and phone calls, forward them to CEDR and they really do work for you. I got £350 awarded last time Virgin mobile cocked my account up.
Worst customer service and internet is PostOffice. Twice they booked engineers and twice they failed to turn up. What is ironic is that they are UK based. The line constantly drops. I needed to regularly switch the router on and off

Anyone know of a good mesh system? I have BT but am using their discs along with my own TPlink power line adapter to get WiFi in the converted garage bedroom. Was thinking of giving virgin a shot since even though the speeds are showing as 30mb and signal seems to be ‘strong’, I’m not able to work from home and simple internet based tasks on my phone aren’t particularly fast.
If you have any other option for a reasonable speed broadband, i would not recommend virgin media

I've been with them for many many years and have some sort of problem every 1-2 months.

They have terrible customer service that are unresponsive, under qualified and unable to even give you basic information, let alone fix issues
