Virgin Media 150Mbps Internet only £23.25 p/m 12 Months, £279 no phone line required retentions deal

Found 8th Apr
Called to cancel Virgin Media internet after 12 months as increased to £36 a month for 150 Mbps, Virgin went ahead and accepted 30 days cancellation notice.

3 days later a call from the outbound team offering me 150 Mbps for £23.25 a month with a new Super Hub 3.0

Internet only, no phone line required as it runs through optic fibre.

If your in the same position, call Virgin and request a call from the outbound team, only they can offer this

Seems like a decent deal for someone who just requires fast internet without any additional services such as TV.

Retention deal from a couple of months ago same discount last 2 months and guy on phone confirmed that it will only be £23 a month.

There is 2 months worth of bills above and both month's contain the same discounts.

I posted proof of my discount and my bill has been £23 a month last 2 months since my retention, I know what I pay and if you don't believe it then don't.

Your phone line is paid as a lump sum upfront if you have the line rental saver so have you included this as an equivalent in your monthly amount ?
£16.33 per month extra for line rental is the equivalent of your £196 upfront payment for 12 months
Add this to your £23 and you have a total of £39.33 ........ not that great then is it

Never paid a penny as a lump sum, said to give the discount he did, this would appear on my bill like that.

Virgin are like SKY, you have to cancel and speak to retentions. When they don't give a deal your happy with continue with the cancellation. Then 2/3 weeks later they will call you and give you a better deal that the guy before.
I got my deal by getting a call back 5 days before my contract was about to expire.

When you call up, they will not be able to honour this, you have to tell them either a) you want to cancel and go through with a couple of days of the 30 days notice and wait for a call from the outbound team. Or b) request a call from the outbound team tomorrow when you call up

How much was the remaining 6 month?

Sorry cold

My dad hadn't changed from original 20Mb line for couple of years paying about £35

Finally got him to call and they gave him 200Mb line new V6 box with the full house bundle plus BT Sports for 12 months plus option to carry on for another 12 months all for £30 a month.

How much does he pay for the phone line?

I was offered 50mbs inc unlimited calls for £9 when I left or 150mbs inc for 13.99. Work that out, still sacked them tho in end as was crap in my area

I pay for the annual phone line rental upfront and then £10 a month for the broadband including free weekend calls. I thought that was a good deal but this seems better. Not sure I'd have the nerve to cancel and wait until the point of cut off to be offered a deal in case they didn't get back to me. Did that recently with the AA and they let me cancel.

When you cancel, you have to provide 30 days notice, of which your services will run as normal. If you do not receive a retention call you can call and request a call from the outbound team. Worst case scenario you can call to re-instate (cancel your cancellation) up to the second to final day of your 30 days notice, thus no harm done.

As a new customer I'm paying £20 per month for 100Mbps, TiVo box, TV, Phone and Line Rental and an initial credit of £50, so works out at £15.83 per month. Very happy indeed and signed up a few friends for this too.

I'm on £30 now, but I DID pay for my line rental up front, so that basically adds another £10ish to it.

I called up today as I'm fed up I'm paying £48 a month for 100mb and tivo box with basic Freeview channels essentially

Offered nothing as I'm an existing customer

Thinking of leaving and seeing if they will call to keep me

I have the same deal as you albeit paying slightly less but as you say this is for new customers and might not be offered to existing customers via the retentions team.

That is expensive - Full House with Sky Movies is £55 including a V6. Search the threads on here and people have been getting £39 or less for the package you have agreed through Retentions.

If you don't put in your notice you don't get offered the best deals from all the reports on here and other discussion boards. It seems to get the very cheapest deal you need to put in your notice, place an order with BT or whoever (note they do a credit check and it goes on your credit report, so only do this if your credit report can take it!) and then await the call from Outbound.

£55 for new customers, the £39/£35 price was being discussed on a Retentions thread on here.

That is all that matters, that you are happy with the deal - I was merely pointing out that it may be possible to get it even cheaper.

Not sure if the other guys didn't include the line rental, £59 includes line rental

Find it hard to believe people getting full house bundle xl, 200mb with line rental for £35

There is an extensive thread on it on here. Don't believe if it makes you feel better but I was trying to help. Feel free to search the forums and you would find the following:

Don't get me wrong the Full House Bundle is a good deal but I started the thread in case anyone like myself required a decent deal for fast internet only (no TV, no phone line) saving a minimum of £12 p/m (based on retention feedback here) compared to the Full house deal. Although it is quite interesting to see how this has unfolded.

You find when anyone posts a Retentions deal on here it attracts replies showing what other people have achieved with the same or different mix. It is always interesting to see what people have achieved as it shows what is possible, if you get the right member of Outbound calling you back
