It's back again uswitch 12 month contract virgin broadband. £5 per month on only a 12 month contract. Need pay line rental at £16.99 but but line saver is also available.

It's currently 50Mb but should increase to 70Mb before end of the contract.

Just check contract when it arrives. Ours turned up as 18 months and 6months discount.

Check other thread for £50credit code. With this and paying upfront it works out at £14.50 ish.
I think op meant 50mb.
typical though nothing for exiting customers.
Just remember that the service will be down most of the time, you will need to make hundreds of calls to Vermin Media to try and get a tech out, you will have to take at least several days off per month for techs to come out each month, you will have to fight tooth and nail to get any kind of pennies in a refund, you will find the prices go up and up (never ever down - just the quality of service goes down down down) and if you don't believe me, check our Vermin Medias Facebook page...

no need to worry about 12-18 or 24 months contract. They put the price up every years ( In the past 4 years) around Feb or March. At this time you can cancel it anytime you like. If you phone them. You can keep same price as your contract. Only if you call them and threaten to leave

Me too ...no problems here ...my BB is even faster than it should be ....lol

AND....they sent me an email saying it's going to 300mb soon ! ...;)
I would honestly rather join hydro.co.uk and get 76mbps for £12.50 per month or 38 for tenner. Landline is only £12 per month and this lasts for 18-24 months plus cash back available. I recently checked the Facebook page of virgin and no matter what they do or say it's all hate of rubbish service and them saying "oh sorry to hear that fire us a message." Hydro / SSE also give free install of fibre if not installed most charge £30-50 unless promo.

Yeah that's correct they currently offer 50mb 100mb and 152mb but thats going up to 100mb 200mb and 300mb by end of this year
I signed up for this earlier today and can confirm that the VMVOU50 code works with the uswitch referral so I managed to get a 12 month contract instead of 18 including £50 bill credit. I should also get £12 back from kidstart so one year's broadband with weekend calls should come in at £210.88 or £16.82 a month. I just hope their broadband is better than their sales website because it took 5 attempts to complete the order. I was starting to think my current ISP was blocking me from switching to a new provider
40mb is more than fast enough for most. No point paying for more just to run speedtests.
Any rumours of when the 50mb to 100mg upgrade will actually happen?
worst provider ever. tried twice and service is appalling with inconsistent service and speeds slowed down at peak times. avoid.

maybe its enough for some people but with more and more services around like Netflix for one, and everything being connected I do need this welcome increase in speed

Been with them 6 years and had the odd down time. My SuperHub did die and i was without internet for 3 days but they credited £10 to the following bill.

Highly recommend them!
Absolutely shocking in my area over subscribed

when the next price rise comes call up and threaten to leave, we were 9 months into a great deal on 30Mb / 50Mb which would have gone up to full price (£36or there abouts) after 12 months on an 18 month deal, called them to cancel and got 100Mb for £19 for a year scrapped the phone as we weren't using it. deals to be had when they come up with the price increases.

we have had them now for 2 years and been off once when workers cut a cable, back up and running same day, said I would never go with virgin after their predecessor called me a tight greedy ..... when I called up for a refund they had promised for 4 months but service we have had has been very good, you know its all going ....up now

Although the speeds can be very high with virgin media, I recommend getting a decent router and attaching it to the modem if you have multiple devices because the 2-in-1 functionality isn't too good. Solved a lot of speed issues I had with my 100mb/s broadband and everybody is happy.

Where does it say they'll increase speed?
Find someone in virgin and ask to recommend you. You get both 50£ off each from 1st bill, you may get some one in family even to give you back this 50£ ( they lose nothing) so ypu can get 100£ off. Can be used with uswitch as been phoned today by Vodafone and they offer me uswitch deal +50/50£. Worth to try also quidco - now 60£ cashback. If all together will work i think you will get 160£ off (quidco may refuse claim)
Anyone know if the upload speeds are going up as well as download speeds? I've got 152 download, but my upload is only 20Mb/s, which is poor compared to BT Infinity. I'm not sure I need any more download speed but doubling the upload would be very welcome.

I've found it pretty reliable. I get the odd day's outage, but have Sky ADSL (non-fibre) as a backup. I work from home so can't risk relying on a single connection. Virgin have always been pretty good when I've contacted them, once you get past the "unplug the router and restart your PC" script.
Any news on the upload being increased i should imagine its atleast 24Mb up on the 300 line
i did similar to this last year.
if you pay the line rental upfront for £164 it works out as £224 for the year including broadband.
deduct the £50 bill credit and that works out as £174, so £14.50 per month on average
Remember you will be charged £34 exit fee by your existing supplier if you are with BT, Plusnet ,Talk Talk Sky, EE, etc when you migrate to Virgin. This is a fee to pay Openreach to disconnect you at the Exchange. I was charged this by Plusnet 2 weeks ago when I signed up with Virgin.

First year with them was hassle free but once I signed a second year with them I had nothing but trouble. Constantly disconnects throughout the day and the WIFI is useless. Many people have said that their Superhub router can't keep a signal and should be replaced. I couldn't agree more!

Tempted to give other companies a chance. Any recommendations?

What a load of garbage.

Our services are not in your area yet, but that could change soon…

Can't get Virgin in Milton Keynes.
I took this offer out early this year. Be careful that you actually read the contract when it comes as it may be 18 months (this is what happened to me, 6 months discount), as stated by another member. Took a bit of back and forth to sort it but it turned out well in the end.

I have to say though, I agree with the comments on the poor service at times. At peak it's very common to be throttled down considerably. I called and was told the area was 'oversubscribed' and that the earliest resolution was the end of this year. Bit poor but there you go.

Virgin have been first rate for a decade, but then there's no real viable alternative what with Sky being part of the Murdoch empire, the one that hacks the phones of murdered children.
