My god, with 152mb broadband I will always be the first to claim all the deals, bwahahahaha

all of that is only a tenner more a month than i'm paying for sky but I couldn't have Tivo again .. f'n hated that ...

think im right in saying that there is a £49.95 installation fee mentioned in the 'legal stuff'. Not sure how this is relevant as its for existing customers?! If there is its Cold from me..if not then its Hot and a good deal

Just gave them a call, you have to pay the £49.95 installation fee for the Tivo box, not optional. Extra £4.16 per month (12 month contract).. Total £65.15 p/m. I'm an existing customer btw.

152mb broadband is a scam. I currently pay for 50mb but rarely get over 10mb.

good luck getting those speeds. I Know a few people on their 120 deal who rarely get near a hundred.

Sure that's not your internal network equipment, have you run a speedtest with 1 pc connected direct? If that works at 50 then it's your network.

Usually because their internal network can't handle it.

when i was on 20mb i got full
50 i got full
60 i got full
152 i get full speed always.

so many people have crap pc systems with knackered harddrives and it makes a huge difference.
a mate of mine moaned about his speeds, had engineers out a few times and nothing wrong,i took my pc round and it was giving him full speed.
people need to face up to a issue being on there side and not always blame the service

I just called them up and said I already have the channels and don't want a . so what they did was just upgrade me from 60 to 152mbps for free!

I didn't have any installation fee because I already had the new super hub.

Also, I was on the premiere collection. Now, I have the same TiVo channels, but with 152mbps broadband too. I actually got 147 yesterday, and 107 over WiFi on my nexus 5 - all using the standard superhub

I pay for 30mb and that's what I get, you maybe need a better hub

why would you want it that fast anyway

I got this deal on friday, I will get once my new super hub 2 arrives on Saturday 152meg broadband, tivo with xl tv package, hd box in the bedroom and phone line with free weekend calls for £42.49 a month all in, I used to pay £42.99 so they even knocked another 50p off my bill and no new 12 month contract

sorry,£20 delivery charge for the super hub 2

I get between 120 to 149 speeds

just called them got 152mb for £2 less then I pay now

I was on 152mb, large tv with Hd box, phone weekends (lowest phone deal), costing £62, £4 loyalty discount = £58 month..

I told them about this deal they said we'll give it you and it will work out cheaper - which it did - hence why I called, but paying the Tivo installation fee and stuck in a 12 month contract put me off.

I decided to downgrade. I got it down to £46/month - applicable for all existing customers, with no contact. My package now stands at 100mb broadband, medium tv - with Hd, and weekend phone. Basically dropped the broadband and tv down and saved £12 a month. Which I'm more than happy with as 152mb was not needed and large tv isn't much better than medium imo.

Compared to Bigmike2028's deal above, my deal sucks. LOL.

I've been on their top broadband package for a long time and always get the speed I should. Some people just assume that their pc can handle those types of speeds when that is often not the case. Virgin has the best broadband of any of the suppliers by a mile in my opinion.

Time i rang up and theatened to leave.

Well, currently im on 152mb , premiere tv and calls for £75 a month. Is this deal going to do any better than im paying now? I still have an old superhub and would love to get new one. Is it always the case you have to pay £20 for delivery? Cheers for some tips.

the only thing that *might* tempt me is getting my virgin premier sim knocked down even further, but even then I'd think twice because of Tivo ..

Call them up they will fix it, when we had it installed a few months ago speed was poor, eventually got one of their top technicians to come out found the issue and had it repaired in a couple of days

Then it's not actually a scam is it. You're the one paying, it should be Virgin you should be complaining to. I also agree with the others, always get the speed we pay for.

Been on 50, got 52.

Been on 60, got 62.

Just upgraded to 100, get 105.

On a side note, we've just took their Big Bang offer we were sent. Couldn't order online so we rang up. Phone stayed the same but we got upgraded to 100mb and M+ TV. We're saving some money and paying the same as we were before on 60mb, M TV and Unlim. Phone.

We were also offer a £5 discount for 3 months too. Might be worth ringing up people.

So to clarify, a product you don't buy is by default a scam?

The only way you can dispute the service you get from Virgin is to do the following.

Plug a RJ45 into the Super Hub and then into your device. Run a speedtest from the likes of speedtest.net and then see what it reports.

DO NOT do this on wifi and complain, that could be affected by the density of walls, the number of them and a number of other factors within your property.

Use a cable, run the tests, if still lower than advertised give VM a call.

I personally see 60mb on wifi, on my 60mb service, that's not using the Super Hub for anything other than the Modem function, the wireless is by a much more competent piece of equipment (I have no need for a SH2)

Good, but if you don't need anything that excessive it doesn't have a knock on effect of the lower tier packages.

I called retentions up the other day (out of contract, funny how they now hide retentions in their menu) and I couldn't be offered anything better. Best I got our of it was a free hub and an early upgrade (my area wasn't due until 2015).

Virgin however beats BT and the rest by a county mile.

I called them to upgrade my TV package 2 weeks ago. I was still using an old TVDrive recorder box from when it was Telewest. They upgraded it, gave me half price installation on TiVo and I'm actually paying £14 a month less than I was before! I had a long standing bundle discount so now I'm on top everything for less than £50 a month. No complaints from me at all. Would never move from Virgin.

We are supposed to get 50 mb as well, but get nothing like it. Probably would not even get 50 mb if I paid extra for the 152 mb deal to be honest.

Just checked my phone bill - I am paying for 60 mb and I have just done a test and I'm getting 31.35 mb. I have phoned up before and so has my son, and they just keep telling us that it all depends on how many people are using the internet in my area, etc.

are you doing a speed test via wifi? I have 152 and this PC is connected via network cable and gets 160. wifi is so often the cause of the problem, a slow speed or busy channels etc.

mine is this always

the only time i ever have slower speeds is if im directly downloading from a server in US for example and they have lower bandwith than me

Edited by: "ramiuk1" 26th May 2014

Ok - just on a side of brodband speed. I am very sceptical in regards with any speed they advertise unless tested myself. 152mb is real. Tested with notebook. Not only using virgin media servers( speedtest ) but using others as well. Not far off 120-145mb on average. My xbox 1 measures from 70 -135mb( you can test it in network section ) which is in my opinion quite impresive as usually not many servers are based in the uk. So all in all as do not like virgin coz they only give a dime about new customers, but speed is pretty awesome. Hopefully the deal that is advertised will take some few quids of my bill. Will let you know in due course what they said.

I get full speed on my new service too. It's often about distance from the exchange/local box. We had issues in one house where the local box wasn't capable of supplying that many households and it took them nearly 4 months to upgrade their end. Maybe they have got better in some places, but I still know a few student in Portsmouth (particularly Southsea) that still don't get their advertised speeds

There are so many factors when it comes to broadband speed, I can't really comment on equipment though as I don't buy cheap PC world tat :P I get what you mean though, I know people that complain the internet is slow because their systems are full of rubbish that slows the whole machine down! Relied on those muppets when I used to work as an IT tech!

Edit; As others said too, never do a speedtest over wireless or from a mobile as you will never get your advertised speeds! Always go wired before you get onto VM support!

No, not via wifi. My PC is connected directly to my Hub.

Just done another test (about 1 and a half hours later) and it is now showing as 27.65 mb, not good seeing I'm paying for up to 60 mb - think I might have to call them, but will probably be told, yet again, it's to do with the number of people trying to use it at the moment.

Wifi speed will vary (it will degrade the further you are from the hub) but I upgraded and get over 150mb when connectd via cable to the hub. Great deal and I am very happy; also got an extra TIVO box for the spare room for free; very happy!

Just phoned and sorted this, £6 cheaper in the end, thanks

I always get 150mb download usually closer to the 160mb mark so must be your equipment at fault
