Free installation currently,

£11.99 for 3 months

£24.48 for 9 months i think you can also add in free basic Virgin TV

So that's £24.49 for broadband per month since you have to take a phone line whether you want one or not.

I'm paying O2 about £7.

Not much of a deal for me.

Great deal if you live in a cable-only place! You can get TV as well for £18 a month in total + Phone Line, but then only 2 months free.

virgin media are a nightmare company
naff customer service
im paying for 10mb and currently get 2mb, after so many calls i get told there's not enough cable in my area offered a £5 refund

You should note that a Virgin Cable "10mb" broadband is normally a REAL 10mb.

Whereas most ADSL lines drop speed the further you get from the exchange this does not apply to Virgin Cable. No matter how far you are away you still get 10mb.

Note they also offer 20mb or even 50mb for anyone who downloads a lot.

I believe they are also trialling 100mb.

Just noticed this above

Have you got an up to date modem. If you have an old modem that may be the problem. Some older modems cant cope with 10mb.

You forgot to mention the download limits (traffic monitor), specially for the higher speed connections!

Virgin is NOT unlimited!!!!

Awful expensive service. Phone calls outside your "free" allowance are more expensive than BT.

im on virgin media had no problems with them had modem fail called them 4 pm new moden arrived next day. I have Sky HD + Virgin Media broadband and phone line was paying £10.45 month now about £11 month (VAT went up) for phone internet all in inc evenings weekends free phone calls and its 18 month deal .Got this when called them up to cancel was paying £17.99 B/Band+ £11.00 phone not found any deals that can match this

I was thinking of going for the 10meg Broadbad only, £15 per month first 3 months the £20 for 9 months. Also quidco £120 cashback for any VM package.

Recently had vodafone dongle and was getting less than 1meg and a friend near i live has sky and get under 2meg!!

Frankly, I never got the published download limits at all on virgin. DNS would frequently fall over and we used alternative DNS services like on tiscali when this happened. They frequently overcharged, didn't answer the phone and I lost connection very 2 days or so. I have been with O2 a year now and no disruption at all. Cold from me.

I know 3 friends on virgin and the picture on the telly is always freezing up and endless
times rebooting the box....no thanks!!

I am sure the broadband wont be any better...

I bet thats a company that wont be here in the next 2 years...
they are currently making all the payroll dept redundant at their bradford base..

i have the modem they sent with it last march so it should be ok
everything seemed ok for first 3months then nothing but problems, i lose connection all the time, slow slow speed 2mins to load a web page on bad day
even watching bbc iplayer is impossible

after speaking to tech support and having random line tests etc he said that there is packet loss of 60-90% arranged to get a guy out to sort the problem but they cancelled

£150 quidco too makes it hot for me

Virgin Media have a harsh hard capped FUP in the daylight hours, which can easily extend overnight (it 5 hours before normal download speed resumes after you have breached the FUP.With the phone line it means a whopping £24.49 (About £21 over 12 months). The M TV is only Freeview so nothing there. Am with o2 and BT payin £18 and even though i can only get 4MB ADSL i can still download more during the day than my mate on Virgin 10MB cause of the harsh FUP. So cold from me (I will never count Quidco as part of a deal until they actually do guarentee payments)

any chance u can post a link to somewhere that can beat my current service from virgin

V+HD box
all channels except movies and sports, +fantastic on demand service
line rental
all phones calls to land lines included 24hrs a day
10mb broadband

all for £35 a month

if u can find something cheaper, offering the same or better service, then i will leave them tomorrow.

just for the record, i have been with them from day1 and i have never had a problem with them.

yes, I pay £12.50 for 2 meg and am quite happy with the reliability of the cable BB I get. Don't have a phone line so this is a good deal for me as otherwise I'd need to pay BT £12/month.

phone them and tell them u want the free upgrade to 10mb broadband. evertbody who contacted them a few months ago, got a free upgrade.

tell them u want it, that u only found out about it recently

Virgin do throttle your speeds if you use excessively between midday and 11pm. But this is only if you exceed 1.5Gb of downloads (seems reasonable to me). Unless you're downloading a library of movies everyday this won't ever be an issue. And if you want to, do it at night! Best thing about virgin is that you get the speeds you pay for - I'm paying for 10mb and GET 10mg. Customer service has never been bad, and they don't screw you for a £120 installation charge like BT. You always get free offers...

this is an awful deal! L is 20MB, not 10MB so might even only be size M

I only pay £18.99 a month for 10mb and phone line rental and talk weekends for free. I thought this was the standard price.

This deal is £25 a month for the same!

Thats a good deal. Have you checked your latest bill? Line rental has gone up to £11.99 and M Broadband from £20.00 to £20.50. I was on a combined package phone, broadband and tv £20/month but now has gone up to £24.00 all increasing. I don't think you have checked virgin web lately as L is 10mb ,xxl 20mb they have changed there Broadband and pricing. Broadband 10mb is £12.50 + £11.99 line rental so £24.50

The Package i have includes M Tv for free so don't pay for it and don't watch it as i have Sky+ HD.
The deal you have has alot of discounts i get £7.00 discount you get £8.00 and then £4.50 i don't get that. I also don't get free calls. The Vat has changed from 15% to 17.5%. And now the line rental has increased to £11.99 last month was only £11.00. They are slowly increase their prices.
I think i will be calling to cancel and see what deal they can do me. If none i will be going to Talktalk. 8mb for £18.49 and with free evenings and weekends.
