Before posting comments about Virgin Media's broadband service check your local area rather than nationally. I've been with VM for over a year now and 90% of the time their service is brilliant, far better than any previous broadband provider I have had (BT, Sky, Vodafone). I constantly get over 300Mb, and for someone who works from home it is perfect. Only issue I have now is my intro offer has expired and it is now costing me £20 more a month. But until I can find another provider that can match their speeds and availability for my area then I'm stuck with them.

I have a virgin media vip package with 500mb speed but before anyone thinks of getting virgin media right now, I would suggest you go check their forum with how many people are having problems with their internet connection and speed. After wasting months of my time with no resolution, I decided to get a sky internet connection which an engineer is coming on Tuesday for installation of open reach line so hopefully I should get a proper connection. Worst issue with virgin media right now is the latency when gaming so be cautious.

I had problems with VM years ago and actually left due to over subscription and slow speeds, I have been back with them over 12 months on 350mb and it's been flawless even during lockdown.

You can search your postcode or VM area xpcode on the forums to see if there any any issue reported in your area.

Yes, check the place where people only complain and have negative experiences.

Meanwhile, Virgin has been flawless for me for the past two years. Router in Modem Mode, using a separate router and access point. Most people’s issues stem from a refusal to try understand the technology.

I’ve been with virgin media for over 10 years and apart from few hiccups in these 10 years (which were very few), their service for me has been great which is why I’ve stayed with them for so long but since this pandemic started, I’ve been getting bad connection drop outs and terrible ping for gaming. I’ve spoken to multiple virgin media advisors who even sent an engineer and a new VM hub but my problem didn’t go away. They also said that there is no issue in my area so I just got fed up and decided to give sky a chance. My contract with VM is until October and I’m sure when more if not most people go back to work and kids go back to school/uni then virgin media’s internet will work fine. They are just having over congestion problem and I read on virgin media where some areas were worse than others but then I’ve also met people from different places where they have no problem with virgin media. I would just advise people to ask their neighbours whoever has virgin media to make sure that they are having no issues before going ahead and joining virgin media coz when it works, it works great.
I have 350 VM and its great. No issues on speed or faults which rarely happen and normally the box down the road. Where else can you get that speed .....if 79 mbps works and you call it fast good luck.
Now issues with speeds until we had to replace our router, on 2.5 we went from 100mbps to around 10 and as low as 0.03 with two new routers. CS say that many factors could affect speeds but can’t tell me why there is so much difference between the old and new router. Going to get a mesh and fidget about it.
This is my second year with VM and there are three things I'll point out if you are thinking of moving to them.

1. Their customer service is non existent. Since Covid, I have lost internet for 5 consecutive days and this was only fixed in the 5 days as I was spending between 1 to 2 hours a day chasing them. Had they of not sent the engineer at my request, it would most likely not be fixed now.

2. Their billing system is shocking. You're fine if you stay on the package you started them with, but if you make any changes, they totally cock the bill up and after 4 months of chasing them, even VM customer service team appear to have given up and have directed me to CISAS (Communication & Internet Services Adjudication Scheme).

3. I pay for 350mb, but for the last 3 months I average anything between 20mb and 100mb. I have had multiple engineer visits, but nothing has improved. The so called technical support have suggested that WiFi boosters will fix all of my problems, even though I have never complained about WiFi as most of connections are hard wired.

As soon as another provider in my area can support anything over 100mb, I am off.
Hi @DharujanNathan thanks for sharing your first deal with us, I've added some additional information to the title including contract term length and the sim added benefit. For those wanting higher speed internet access and a shorter contract term it's one to consider if reviewing availability options for your postcode. If you are a Virgin Customer personal feedback on how you've found them with customer service would be great if you could share that too with us
I've enjoyed reading this thread. I've been swearing at the TV for COD having lag issues (the three orange boxes) but now I realise it's a VM thing!
