Got an email for a retention deal 60mb internet and unlimited landline any day from a home phone for £25.49. Confirmed with the rep that this offer is available for all new customers. It is a 12 month contract. The lowest broadband at the moment is plusnet £19.90 with line rental. The above offer has line rental also included. This offer could be £3 less if you go for the 30mb speed. To get the offer down to this price you must sign up for direct debit and paperless billing.

Hopefully contacting the sales department should get you this offer it is still valid. Sales number for Virgin Media 0800 9535353

I'm confused. If it's a 'retention deal', surely that's for existing customers, not new customers? oO

Virgin **** best get 60meg and if ur lucky you mite receive 30 that lags out n cuts off!!! To many customers and they can't provide the speed they told me that them selves!! Rip off company

spoke to someone other day who was with virgin on 30mb. Was a gamer and virgin had been throttling him back for several months to 0.9mb yes ,0.9mb !!!. Virgin are ... for that. Was in contract so couldn't do anything about it until contract up !!!

I have 60 meg and never had a problem. Works full speed all the time and I'm a heavy user.

I get 18-25mb on iPhone, 30mb on laptop both wireless, and 60+mb on wired desktop on VM 60mb service.

Wireless is susceptible to all sorts of interference from strip lights, microwaves, cordless phones, neighbours networks on the same band etc and will rarely be as good speed wise as a wired connection, I'd go as far as saying you will lose at least a third of the quoted speeds using wireless as standard.

Some of the cables being used from junction boxes to the house have been in place since NTL were around if not longer they may be damaged or degraded sat in water somewhere underground along the line, if you aren't happy then complain and get an engineer out for free to run some tests themselves.

You are definitely not a heavy user. I am and sometimes get throttled during peak hours.... When I do its a joke.... Almost dial up as speed and totally unusable

Agree to a certain extent re wireless mostly it's other people's networks esp those with cheap carp routers like tp link or belkin . It's because you are transmitting on the same channel. Try changing the channel if you router allows it or get a dual band 5g router if you have the money and 5g ac enabled devices as you be on a little used band at the moment... Probably is its short ranged.

I get a steady 30mb and my father in law gets 34mb. Both on 30mb. Only company I know that gives what they advertise. Gutted I cant get cable in my next house.

This offer wasn't available on Thursday and what the retention department offered me was 30mb broadband, xl telephone with 150mins to mobiles and international countries and 0845 numbers. The guy also included a TiVo box with the medium TV package as he said that was free anyway. All this will cost me £30 per month.

Should I ask for the op deal instead for the 60mb broadband for £5 less?

I have 120Mb and it gives me around 11mb upload speed + m phone,m+tv with tivo box and I am paying £45

Well I agree with some of you guys above. I did have an issue with virgin before, but it all depends on the area. I was in NW9 before and started getting few problems since the beginning of this year and their reason was "high utilisation". Either way never had disconnection only problems during peak time. Now in Croydon it works like a charm less virgin customer and you can experience the full speed. It was a retention deal but I confirmed that it is also available for new customers. I will try to contact the same agent on Monday to confirm again.

Thanks for posting OP. I'm after a new deal, so I'll have to give them a call to see what's possible.
I'm currently on 30Mb and I get full speed 99% of the time.

Hi amoten84, this is a great deal! Will try my luck on monday as I have been meaning to call them as I am out of contract.
Did they just send you the email out of the blue or had you already given them notice to cancel your contract.
Did you also enquire if you could pay for the phone line rental up front and save even more or is this already included in the price?
If I send you my email via PM could you forward me the email please?
Thanks

Hmmm. Do you know me? Making assumptions the way you do, it's no wonder you are getting throttled at peak times lol.
I'm a heavier user than most, but not as heavy as some (Virgin have me in the top 5% apparently)
Seriously though, I do most of my downloading after 10pm. There are no restrictions then. Simples

Has anyone got this as a new customer yet?

I have to move since BE was sold to Sky and I don't fancy moving to them...
