I went for this deal but when I phoned BT to cancel my out of contract package and asked for my PAC code they offered me a mega deal, I know it's a bit less speed( guaranteed 56meg) but it's by far enough for me, I've had good service for 2 years and no switching hassle! Also as soon as I told Virgin they offered to match it, it's the best negotiations I've had for a long while...
Heat added for your deal though

Problems with Virgin in my opinion what make me worried to sign up with them is them Virgin Media Hub 3.0. This router come out 4 years ago on chipset from Intel and this
is broken chipsed in its own nature.

The router don't have many functions what other routers offer and WiFi signal is super weak.

When you check this router over Internet lots of customers need to buy separate router what connect to virgin hub 3 (this going on modem mode) and WiFi signal is better. What is shocking because Vodafone offer router with 7 antennae with beamforming and lots of futures for everyone where virgin will give you them Hub 4.0 (don't know is is better) but only with 1 Gig deals even you ask them you want new tech they refuse with M100.

And my friend have M100 and speeds are below 96 Mb down and upload should be up to 10 Mb and is about 3.6 to 5.9.

I am still not sure if is worth to try this.

Just let me know what you think guys. Try with them or not? They are hard to communicate anyway haha

96mb on a 100mb deal is hardly an issue

I have VM200 currently and have the Hub 3.0. For me, the hub 3.0 is perfect as i don't do much tinkering with it. The range is super, can reach rooms on the other side of house with still 1/4 of the speeds (50mbps).

Speeds are fine too, usually 209mbps, rare minimum about 150, uploads 10mbps constant.

Only gripe is it's not compatible with openVPN which i wanted to implement since i have vpn service.
I assume this an offer for new customers only? Just tried to negotiate a renewal deal with Virgin Media and got offered a worse deal than I’m currently on! Needless to say I’ve given my 30 days notice. It’s a shame loyalty isn’t valued but I suppose they have such churn it won’t bother them.

Switched to Plusnet and hopefully I won’t notice the 30Mbs speed drop.

Issue is the upload speed. And weak WiFi look at my friend have M350 and in his WiFi connection have only this.

Its probably just the area is over subscribed, i use the hub 3.0 and get almost exactly what it states sometimes more

Thank you for you ur answer. But M200 should have upload 20 Mbps. Contact with them and tell them about it

Are you tempted to run the hub 3 in modem mode and put your own fw router/vpn server in place?
When doing speed test, make sure you connect to 5Ghz wifi as well.
Trying to cancel my Virgin sim. Absolute nightmare. Told it was cancelled but they carried it on FFS! First time I talked, they said they wouldn't cancel and to ring back on the last day of the monthly contract!? I was going to be abroad at that time. Loads of calls later, not sure its cancelled yet. Hopefully last bill of £1.56 means it is. AVOID.
Folks, please if the tcb or Quidco is a factor in your decision, be very wary. Quite a few on here, myself included, never got the Quidco, at all for the contract. Didn't violate the terms in any way and it tracked etc. They just never paid out and then stopped responding to Quidco teams making contact. Just don't take this expecting it, if it's a factor which highly Influences your decision

I am but I'm on the fence at the moment. All my devices use vpn apart from my tv which is the only issue. So I'm wondering if it's worth the investment in a good router.

Pick us a good Asus mate. Doesn’t need to be silly money...would budget about £150. Will take away your WiFi issues plus very easy to manage. 2.4ghz is crowded around here so 5ghz is a godsend.

Wait for retentions to call you back or if still not happy with what there offering just get your other half or other adult (assuming) to sign up as a new customer. Works every year for me.

Netgear also good. Asus UI very easy to navigate. Just spec up the cpu.
Is this deal subject to mid contract price hikes? I know the T&Cs for the Fibre + Landline are saying bo mid contract price rises.

...I switched Hub 3 into modem mode and router WiFi speeds weren't impressive, so gave up that idea and will simply use power line WiFi adapter for the furthest room at the back of the house
Great deal, thanks!
Virgin no way

They have a habit of kicking you out if they think the the plan you are on is not right for them or they are not making any money out of it

Last month I moved a friend from 10gb for £10 month sim plan to 25gb for £15 month sim plan

Guess what they sent an email few days ago stating that the plan he is on is going up by £5 from April

Good thing is he can leave without any penalty as he is on a 12 months contract so decided to leave and spend money somewhere else as they done the same thing to me last year on a different sim plan

And we are not the first and this is a regular occurrence with Virgin

Virgin Media Hub 3 is fine. I've been using it for a while with no problems. Ignore the trolls who just moan about everything when they don't know how to set up their router properly / block the vent holes etc.

Make sure the router has plenty of space for air as that's what causes most slowdowns. These modern routers get hot.

Waited for an offer and took out another contract
You can take out on the wife’s name
Or anyone else in the house

Well I am going to see how this work at my friend house today.

Also question if I move my house (will do in 6 to 8 months) and new place will not have virgin connection so can I cancel contract without any fees?

Make sure your friend has it setup properly (router not stored in between stuff) and its actually in a good location.

For your next question.. maybe. I would argue with them that it's their fault they've not cabled the new address and not yours so you could get out of it that way. I'm probably going to have to deal with the same thing myself.

I think better deal is with auto credit i just feel 29 quid and 130 gbp in voucher not give me cheaper feeling

But this one give.

M100
18 months x 25 GBP = 450 - 75 auto credit= 375/18 = 20.83 effective cost.

Will speak with them but on the phone because live chat is useless

I get you may not personally feel the issues the others have had affected you, but they've been well documented and proven but Virgin Media hasn't replaced the affected chip. They're only trying to alleviate the issues with a software update. The issues are probably mainly for gamers who play online a lot and rely on not losing packets and keeping low ping etc.

Happy to hear you have had good experience with them though
I'm currently on M100 on 12 month contract. Did anyone managed to renegotiate a new deal with VM as an existing customer?

Only £5.31 for broadband and landline? Is that the 50mbps average download speed on BT?
I've had virgin m200 for a week now and the WiFi is terrible. It's really sporadic , the speed fluctuates massively at times my son moans that YouTube buffers a lot now . The TV and Xbox get consistent 200mps via ethernet but these are the speed tests done in the same room via WiFi .

Looks like something's wrong the way thats up and down is very abnormal.
If you get utilisation where to many people subscribe in an area it does this but not like that, its all over the place and low speeds at 6am not at peak times is weird.

I just wondering why virgin media still offering this VM Hub 3.0 when they already have 4.0 with better chipset and not this problematic Intel.

Company like Vodafone what i use yet till 30 of march have decent router what in 5Ghz signal range giving same speeds what on Ethernet cables. And they now offering even better router right now and man these routers are proper lovely designed and compact and powerfull. Plus they give this router to everyone from 35 Mbps to top plans 900 Mbps up and down.

Why Virgin don't want start giving everyone proper device where you will not be needed spend extra money for additional hardware.

Do you know how to make them sell me hub 4.0?

Its cable to the box then phone line to the house hey say it's a round 70meg but I'm guaranteed 56 meg and it's always above that, I think either I struck it lucky with a kind agent or he knew I was definitely leaving and he had to beat Virgins price!

Happily, Virgin Media paid out for me.. After 7 months!

Quidco and TCB is NEVER guaranteed, so don't count on it. Find the the best rate then try to access it via cashback site; if you can, give it a try, chase the result and make a cashback claim if need be.... accepting sometimes you ultimately get nowt.

(there are tricks if said best rate cannot be found on cashback site... such as using two browsers, find best deal on one, copy url, log in to cashback site on other browser, access provider, paste url into that page!)

Create a faraday cage around you and the router and try again. Virgin can’t be blamed for interference. I’ve got hub3 and it spanks sky’s 5ghz offering. Alternatively, get a multi AP solution like those MW6’s, EOP them in, and hope nobody is microwaving your home. Run inSSIDer to check for competing signals. If you sit next to the router and have problems with modern equipment, Virgin should take a look as not fit for purpose. Ps I’ve had issues putting the router on top of a pc before, so try relocating.
