Usage Limit Truly Unlimited
"Truly unlimited" broadband is perfect for heavy downloaders, student households or families sharing their connection because it does not apply either a fair usage policy or traffic management. This lets you download as much as you want, whenever you want, with your broadband speed acting as the only restricting factor. Some packages offer "unlimited broadband" without a fair usage policy but with traffic management to make sure that very heavy downloaders do not affect your connection at peak times.

Excess Usage
Truly unlimited broadband does not apply either a fair usage policy or traffic management, allowing you to download as much as you want, whenever you want, with your broadband speed acting as the only restricting factor.

Problem not solved. Their service is so unreliable. I am fed up with a 25Mbps connection on M100.

No other comms business in the UK come close to this shambolic shower.

And the pretend regulator Ofcom will do what they do best. Turn a blind eye to the contempt this company has for its customers.

To rub salt into the wounds they play George Ezra 'Blame it on me'. Which regularly includes the lyrics 'What you waitin for'. The answer is normally for the Virgin CS rep to read a long list of excuses for terrible service.

What I'm really waiting for is for my contract to end.

Virgin customer here and I agree with all the comments about the poor service and speeds. I’m supposed to have 200mbps but I’m lucky if I get 30mbps. Rubbish

Guess it depends on your needs bud. If you are happy with what you have currently, no harm in waiting it out to see what offers drop in November, plus you'll have a better picture of price increases as Virgin RPi increase normally happens around September

How longs a piece of string ?
Just convinced my dad to sign up on Friday with the £50 voucher! 🤦🏽
Sadly they started cutting the pavement in my area but then there was the project lightning scandal so they stopped, couple months later different contractor arrived to start again, then they disappeared! 6 months after that council arrived to patch up all the damaged pavements. So we are all still stuck on 30Mb BT VDSL using copper wires from the 80s that goes along drains with flooded joints.

Sounds like you need to be getting one of those 4g or 5g home broadband deals, using the mobile networks

I know this is only my experience but they are terrible service.

Cancelled all my sky a few weeks ago to go with them they said they would be round to install on the 7/7/20 a week before the install a person came round and put a box on my wall ready for for the installation then out of the blue on the 6th we get a email/ text message saying they are changing my appointment till the 10th of October.
Then the nightmare began trying to cancel because i said we can't wait that long with no broadband.
This is no lair i was on the phone for 5hrs being pushed pillow to post and explaining the same things over and over again.
one woman i was talking to just went quite after i was explaining in the end i said are you still there she said yes then went quite again.
The virgin was only dug up and put in about 8mths ago so thought i would of got a better service the i did so now back with sky cheaper then before and got more been with sky about 13yrs was only trying virgin because of my son wanting it.
Sorry was a long moan people but just be careful with Virginmedia.

I have just signed up to the m500 will this voucher be valid
Just had M200 installed (new to our area). Thankfully already have a mesh WiFi system (Deco M5), getting 220 download and 21 upload. 10ms ping. Happy with that... Good install engineer. Now just to see if problems creep in and I have to use their legendary customer service, but for now, It's excellent, the Openreach network doesn't come close
You have to take the offer through the broadband choices website to get the voucher, it asks for your email address before forwarding you to the Virgin website
Excellent deal OP

My personal opinion I really hate virgin media been with them since 2009 - 2018 they always offer you excellent prices after your 12 months contract the price goes skyrocket.

Now only using three home broadband via tplink 4g router only paying less than £8.00 a month with speeds offpeak 60meg onpeak 40meg depending on your area.

I use that hub3 £6 piece of junk as a modem only and then all Ubiquiti Unifi kit beyond that. Still only get between 35-50MB on M100. I can't wait to get rid of Virgin for good in December.

I've got the Amplifi HD hooked up to the SH3 and it's great. Router plus wireless access point plus Amplifi Instant upstairs on Ethernet backhaul and it's solid speeds throughout.

I do notice the speed test from the Amplifi router never seems to give the max speed (m350)

Go for mesh system no more dead spots
Many excellent mesh system can be had for under £100 in amazon my setup is a bit overkill atm using netgear orbi pro paid over £450.
I get full wifi signal and full speeds in the garden.

Since changing to a separate router a few years ago I've had no drop outs and full speeds, the superhubs are and always have been garbage

As I already said. I use Ubiquiti Unifi kit. A USG, 8 port POE switch and wifi flying saucers. My hub is in modem mode. Dropouts and outages on Virgin daily and excuses constantly from CS.

Sadly that is one of the many issues with London.
Massively popular last time round because many of us got it for a tenner plus a £50 Amazon voucher.

Any with line rental?
Can’t knock the service to be fair, on 100mbps package but I get 110 even during peak times. Inevitably end of contract price hike said the same 100mbps was going up to £42pm so just called to say I’m serving my 30 days notice, less than 24 hours later, guess what? Yeh you guessed it, VM on the blower, “we’ll give you 100mbps for £25pm for 18m”. Yeh sounds good to me.
I’m moving home soon with my contract ending probably around the same time in September.
I’ll be shopping around to get the best deal I can, I’m paying £51 a month at present for a basic tv package with 200mps broadband, great speed but at times can be slow, and yes, connectivity issues upstairs.

I hope they can offer me something decent if I threaten to leave them, otherwise I’ll be moving elsewhere

Ive got a retention deal practically every other year for the past decade but this time round they accepted my notice and haven't called me to offer anything. Problem is I'm quite happy with the service. Get 112mb down 10mb up every time I've tested the line. I may have to call them the day before they disconnect me to stop them.
Yes I hear 24 hours before disconnection they put a call in, I think they’re clocking on what people are doing to get a better deal lol

Why do so many people say they have wifi connectivity issues in their homes. Have UK consumers not been made aware of wifi extenders yet?

I have never used a providers kit because it is all so cheap and dodgy.
I have an extender, yet still have issues

Worst customer service. Can’t explain how bad never bad mouth a company but virgin in awful customer service in a league of their own. Once they’ve tied you down to a contract good luck.
Having looked into wifi routers on amazon, the reviews are amazing aswell as using the virgin router as a modem, looks like I’ll be getting on of these very soon.
I want some advice here. I want to go for fibre. Which is the better for customer service Virgin vs Plusnet?

Gotta agree with this.

While the old router was upstairs, the connection in the living room was fairly decent. Signed a new contract and got the new router and placed it downstairs and the connection upstairs will some slow down or drop out.

That's exactly what happened to me. I called them today to renew before my service stops tomorrow! Didn't offer me any good deals. But can't fault the broadband.
Good luck folks - Virgin Media have been DIRE since day one here. Constant Internet dropouts (their **** network, nothing to do with WiFi), billing by bingo machine and their customer service is worse than non existent.

If you like spending hours talking to a clueless call centre or texting a robot, go for it. Otherwise save your sanity!
