So that's for 18 months, right?

Did they give you an option to pay the line rental upfront? And no TV option?

Did you ask for retention department ? or just threaten to leave need to do this myself, paying double this. good deal for people with rubbish normal broadband options and little choice to move.

I was going to move but no other fibre supplier in my area so stayed on 12 month deal for 75mb, unlimited talk (mobile included), tivo with basic package at £26 per month

Do you think it's a deal, if you are asking a question this should be in ask.

On the "deal" itself, we have 150Mb BB only for £23 18 month discount 12 month contract which won't last 12 months as they will no doubt put the price up allowing us to cancel and therefore get a new deal.

150mb my contract end where I can get 150mb for £23

150mb off peak, 3mb peak. Virgin sucks for peak time download speeds due to oversubscription.

theres no download restrictions??? what u on about. this aint 1999

Whilst the fact that you can allways get a different person on the phone ech time you ring, in general you will ALLWAYS get a better deal from VM if you have actually submitted a disconnection/move request, as you will be contacted by the 'Outbound' team.... I had a last minute conversation with the Normal I want to leave team, literally minutes before i signed up to the latest BT deal, as i wanted to keep the 200MBps BB if at all possible, but even though I said that I knew they were doing deals for 50MB plus all calls for £19-£24 (inc. all talk) because they pay the line rental up front, she couldn't get anywhere near close, but did say If you had actually submitted the disconnection request we can do something different....

So I signed up for BT and within 48 hours I had the outbound team on to me to make a deal... The guy I spoke to added Stuff to my account before slashing the price, and I have to say made reasonable offers, but I was able to play hardball, because of my genuine dire situation and need to slash the costs dramatically (I should add that I have been overpaying VM for probably 20 years so I'm due a cut ) but whether he believed me(after all it is true) or he would do it for everyone, I assume this is probably the case, he slashed the price to what I wanted to pay, but I kept the 200MBps. his whole outlook was totally different to all the other failed calls I had made because effectively you have already 'left', you are just seeing out your contract at this point. in any case, this Outbound team made me a deal I was happy with (but as above, I've paid for it multiple times over by overpaying for years). my long drawn out point is to find a deal you would be happy with an alternative supplier, and go for it, if you get a better offer great if you don't be happy with the new deal and you are free to rejoin the following year with a new customer offer....

hate virgin TiVo. box is slow and programmes don't record correctly often missing the end or beginning of a show. we just use it for TV now. the remote is diabolical also. hugely over complicated and confusing. cancelling in April when the contract ends. good riddance

Still waiting for them to try to keep my custom after submitting a cancellation request

Why do we bother...;)

Well your lucky as I am on 200mb and get as low as 3mb peak and as an average less then 8mb. It's been like this for over a year and many broken promises from virgin to sort it out. Looking at the virgin forums I am not alone. Very frustrating.

Oversubscription is a problem but you're going to have similar issues moving over to the likes of ADSL. We've been with Virgin for a considerable amount of time, currently on their 152mb package and can't really complain of our connection in either peak or off-peak. The hub is dire but nothing an AirPort Extreme* doesn't fix.

*Replace with appropriate router.

what is it y'all find so terrible about the hub??? we only gave a small house but decent reliable WiFi and speed not an issue??
