Virgin Media Retention Deal £40.00 / month 200Mbps / Full House TV / Weekend Calls / Super Hub 3 upgrade / V6 Box

Hi all,

I thought I'd share a retentions deal I got this morning following the end of the £35.00 per month full house bundle posted in Jan hotukdeals.com/dea…076

Following Virgin putting my bill up to £68 / month, I cancelled my account last Friday with a view to consolidating my services. Today I was called by outbound loyalty and after talking with the rep I was able to negotiate

200Mbps Broadband
Full House Bundle
Weekend Calls
An upgrade to my router (to Superhub 3)
An upgrade of the tivo box to V6
An Engineer to come and move some wiring around the house

All for £40 per month. No installation fees or upgrade fees.

Looking at recent deals I think this is very competitive and definitely worth asking for if you are also coming to the end of the £35 per month deal. I think with a bit more haggling I could have kept the price at £35 but didn't feel too bad with the kit upgrades and engineer visit.

Hopefully helps someone out there!

That means nothing. I've mentioned deals like that dozens of time and they …That means nothing. I've mentioned deals like that dozens of time and they always tell me that they can't go that low blah blah blah. They don't have to honour seal offered to someone else at different time. They don't really care.

Yep exactly. It's all luck of the draw and what kind of advisor you get. It's almost not worth mentioning any deals youve seen people get on here as I always get the impression that they deliberately won't match it then.

Well done - that helps people out even more! I'll be back on the phone tomorrow
Same here im in the middle of my cancellation. They never offer me anything decent but at least I have something to go by now
Yeah they gave me that deal so I didn’t leave and I didn’t even have to haggle.
Is this a 12 month contract or 1 month rolling?
I'm going to give it a punt as paying £35 at mo. Ta
I put in my 30 day notice two weeks ago and heard nothing. Was just about to call and accept their £23pm for 50mb internet but i'll try this.

If that’s an 18month contract you’re in a spot of bother in 12months time
Paying 57 for a lesser package... not happy at all. Ringing now.
I fought for £50 on this deal. I got to V6 boxes tho

12 month in picture. I thought same thing.

I just ring 150 then select the option for tv broadband, then I think it is option 4 for thinking of leaving us. They might not want to match it but the retentions team will so get your cancellation in. My view is you can always un-cancel if you decide to stay but you need to give 30 days notice if you want to leave. Always better to get the ball rolling and cancel.

You should get 100 for that they are changing their packages and 100 is the new lowest. £22 to 23 is the offer £27 to 29 for 200

Apparently all they could do is take £8 off my bill. I took it (I'm still not in a contract with them) but said to the guy I want to check with others and get more proof and if they cannot offer I will leave and just go with BT for the internet.

You have to ring. I did and got better box, better broadband but same TV (don't give a toss about sports) and saved £10/month. Well chuffed!!
I gave my notice today regarding the previous full house bundle, I will hopefully get a call with a better deal.

You’re not alone, same here. Though I only requested one V6 box for now. I’ll hassle them for another later next year !

I felt £50 was a fair price to pay...didn’t for a moment think they’d offer others such a lower price deal after the £35 deal from 12 months earlier...oh well!

I talked to them about that. Apparently that was the old packages and anyone signing up for 50mb is signing up for that. Called four times to be told the same thing.

If you are within your 14 days cooling off period you can call them up and ask them to see if they will drop the price.

Funny that’s not what their press release said
Called them up and nothing. Best they will do is around £65pm for that deal or 50mb for just the internet. Said about the 100mb for the same price as 50mb but that was on the old packages. New sign ups get to 50 just get 50mb shame

I know. Quoted that, sent the link via web chat. Only applied to old contracts not new sign ups! grr

They are having you on, there are some customers I think in areas which they can’t upgrade due to over utilisation but a month ago we had the choice pay our non discounted rate for 150 upgrade to 200 or down to 100 saved nearly £20 a month on upgrading with the discounts.
Calling tomorrow cheers
There is a decent guide on MSE for renegotiating. I recommend giving it a read.

I like to think i'm fairly good at haggling and getting a good deal but they wouldn't budge on this. Shame I didn't same the web chat to share but neither them or the phone people wouldn't budge. I have two weeks left of my notice so lets see if they come calling.
When you call them you should always check if your area has a better broadband around as they will know this. When I called them I said that I am leaving twice after the guy tried to offer me £20 discount for the £73 I was paying for this bundle. I said that I want to proceed with cancellation and the following day he offered free installation at my new place, the new tv box and router and the monthly plan is £42 and no contract at all, it's just a rolling one with the right to cancel it anytime as long as it is 30 days notice.

One tip is to call and ask to speak to the outbound loyalty team. They seem to have a bit more leeway with negotiation so that may well be worth a go too!
That's a good deal, as a new customer to VM this year in April, I managed to get Full House + Movies, 200mbps broadband, line rental & weekend calls (as well as V6 & SH3 boxes) for £50 a month - I am not holding my breath that they will do anything close to that for me when my deal expires in another 4 months!

It's been 2 weeks since I gave my notice too, they still haven't called me back either! Anyone got a rough idea of the time frame it usually takes before retentions usually get involved???

Depending on your marketing and call preferences I've heard that in some cases they may not actually call (read this from a mod on the virgin media forum). Might be worth calling and asking to speak to the outbound loyalty team.

I had the call after 3 days.

Tried that too. Nothing except "ok we will process your 30 days and your last day will be on ..... "
