Coming up to the end of my first year with Virgin Media. We're on an intro offer of £5 pm for 50Mbps fibre, plus £18 pm line rental and weekend calls - total £23 pm.

I phoned to cancel a few days ago as price was due to increase massively. No problems, account cancelled.

Just received a phone call from their loyalty team. They offered 70Mbps fibre for £17 pm for 12 months on a 12 month contract. No phone line as we don't use it at all.

Thought this was a pretty good deal, seeing as though the best out there at the moment is Sky broadband for £15pm all in, however this is not fibre.

It's worth nothing that my contract doesn't end until mid January next year, so more than 30 days away. However when I phoned to cancel I requested it to be cancelled on my contract end date and they actioned this no problem. So even if you're still in contract, you should be able to do this

They usually call you once you cancel and give in your notice.

We've been offered everything, 200mb Internet? That new one..checked online, it's for gamers or something..anyway that, xl TV (we don't even use all the sports channels so I'm trying to work out whether it's good) aswell as phone for £30pm..I'm guessing that was a really good offer so we ended up staying lol..

Good price, Sky still offering the rubbish (dated) 40/10 Fibre service for more than this, while BT/Plusnet have moved to the faster 55/10 Fibre profile.

Yes. Happened to me a few months ago. Requested a transfer of my phone number to BT and then got a call from retentions. They gave me 50mb broadband with phone line for £17 a month. They also gave me a £50 credit as I would have got cashback from BT.

2 days ago I got anytime calls and 50mb broadband for £19 a month

Glad you got a deal op. But none of these retention posts are deals. They should be put in miscellaneous as they're not guaranteed for everyone, they're is no click link to a deal and it various on the person you speak to. I've been promised things by retentions, then when the contract arrives to sign it resembles nothing of what was agreed verbally. I'm currently in a formal complaint now with the CEO complaints team to hold them to honour what I was offered. So yeah, this shouldn't be in deals.

I got this a couple of months ago but for £17.50. Can't complain really.

Virgin traffic management garbage.

Good luck for you, the price will hike again and again. Then you call for cancel again and again (_;)

I pay £36 for 150Mb now and call them to reduce my monthly bill every single month. I'm only getting 4Mb in the evening. it's a joke considering how much I'm paying. Virgin cheats

I called and cancelled my phone and broadband. They called a few days later and told them I had signed up to the sky £15 pm deal plus £75 prepaid credit card. They offered me my existing 70mb broadband and weekend calls deal for £21. I kidded on that it was my wife that was driving the change and I was really needing to sell it as value for money to her so I asked how much for the tivo box and basic tv package in addition to the phone/broadband. As I previously had this so can self install they offered it to me for £22 :-) It's all he said/she said but just giving you details of how i played it to see if you can get a similar deal. so in all £22 pm on 12 month contract for 70mb, weekend calls, M TV package and tivo box. We already have sky multiroom in the living room and one of the bedrooms so it's just a wee bonus having a recordable box in another room.

I only cancelled on Sunday and this was agreed Wednesday night.

I agree with you but if it was in a miscellaneous section, I doubt that many people would benefit from this insight so from that perspective I like seeing this sort of thing pop up. Good luck with your complaint as I hate dealing with all the big companies and their CEO office teams! In my work (which is a large company), if theres a CEO complaint, it's like a circus with folk jumping through hoops to get things corrected but when I've had the misfortune to complain to other companies their CEO complaint teams have been ridiculously slow in getting anything sorted.

I had the same issue... complain on the Virgin forum, show some screenshots of an Ookla test & they should give you a discount on your monthly bill. Worked for me

You are better than 92 % of UK, it says. I can get these speeds at midnight but evening, weekends and public holidays when everyone is logged in, getting a decent speed on virgin is a nightmare.

Virgin

very hit and miss getting deal from virgin. I got 6 months @£17.50 and remainder 12 months @£25 with £30 credit making average of £21 a month on a 18 month contract for 70mb. Not as good as the £17 offers but took it to save all the ringing back headache.

virgin has the worst cs and they make you jump through hoops to get want you want

Also currently paying £36 for 150Mb, might give them a call and see what I can do, no issues with speed as I'm maxing it out no matter what time of day it is.
