Just rang virgin media retentions, contract due to run out this month. Current package is 100mb broadband, basic tv basic phone.

was told If i pay my line rental upfront £196, they'll credit me £50, and because I don't use tivo they've applied a £10 discount to my account, bringing my monthly bill down to £21 p/m. Was also offered the option to upgrade to 200mb vivid for £29 p/m.

Might be worth a try if anybodys contract is up soon.

I'll be looking at a similar deal in March. Have the second most basic tv package with only a few HD channels and can't live with the laggy Tivo box much longer so have bought a Panasonic Blu-Ray/Freeview box and going terrestrial. .

Few days ago I got £16 for 12 months also £50 credit.

last engineer I had out was talking about the new boxes, no local storage it's all in the 'cloud', means when the box dies you don't lose your content

brrr op, retention deals are customer specific, so go cold very quickly.

err no, it means when your box dies, they ship you a replacement, and your content thats in the cloud is playable on the replacement box. Do you know what the phrase "the cloud" means?

Funny as I have two of the new boxes already I have had them for around a month now, however the installer did say it's the first he has done and only seem to be select few getting them. One fault I have which still has not been resolved is I am unable to watch recorded content from the each other box.

I hope I get one when they install in January.
