Virgin Media TIVO £3 per month FREE Activation & Installation EXISTING CUSTOMERS

I know this will probably get shot down but hey it might help someone

Ive just managed to get TIVO for an extra £1.50 a month

Existing customers like you and I are ment to pay £50 installation and £50 activation for TIVO and then an extra £3 per month.

Well . . . this page shop.virginmedia.com/dig…tml on Virgin says that new customers get the installation and activation FREE. So i phoned and spoke to someone in India and told them i wanted it free. They said no, so I asked if they could put me through to customer relations as I said i could just cancel my contract and then re-apply and get what I wanted.

The customer relations lady (english) said that the webpage above was an error and new customers should still have to pay £50 installation but seeing as the page was still online she would do it for me because everyone should pay the same. sweet..

She explained that my bill would go up by £3 per month and i said thats fine. But ive just removed my PaperBill charge which is £1.50 so in theory im only paying an extra £1.50 for TIVO

Doesn't get installed until the 11th November but hey

AND . . my contract is not due for renewal until April 2012 so couldn't of cancelled anyway

Phones to call: 0845 650 4545 or 0800 9522044 for Customer relations/ MAC code requests or 01642 642577

Virgin Media are suckers for people threatening to leave, I upgraded from 10mb to 50mb net and ended up paying less per month than I was before simply because I kept saying it wasn’t good enough and I wanted to leave…
I would love to do this however I was told that you enter a new 12 month contract

yes it might even be longer
not really a deal just advice on haggling with virgin
I have the TV free box (M package I think, not M+) - After I told them I did not want TV they kept ringing me and telling me to take it free, could I have this?

So it was 3.00 a month, you removed paper bills from your account, not everyone has this.

No I agree, thats why i put (or £1.50) in brackets...
The deal part is about existing customers being able to get installation and activation free saving £100 which is normally only for new customers
ANyone know if Virgin media will phone me when my contract is up to try and put me on another one or just let me keep happily plodding along?
I asked for this yesterday....they said they still had to charge me for an Engineer....I told then to stick it up their..........

I wrote an email today with that page you provided with the offer...lets see if they can be bothered to do anything about it.

Call it what you like, but I'm gonna vote HOT!
Had to increase my TV package from the basic free one to M+ (gives me 65 channels or something) but I should be getting my TIVO installed FOC this Saturday!!
Happy Days (so long as I can figure out how to use it, once it's installed!)
Thanks OP

They will quite happily let you keep plodding along, you won't be informed of any offers or new products etc, at least I wasn't.
They want to start laying more cables to get more business.....
Ive rented 9 houses now and never had one in a virgin area...lol
well i just phoned up and i already have the tivo box and i said the same thing as the OP and they could not give me the fee back but instead they gave me £10.00 off my bill every month ..... so over the year it will be a bigger discount so i am now super happy ..... about this they are giving me all my caller display and something else for free every month so i am happy so have some heat

Well done
You don't need to even haggle, thought it was common knowledge now, 500gb free and 1tb now cost £50.
It's when you want more than 1 TiVo box you need to haggle.
Now all you need to do is wait for their software update to fix all the glitches these things have.

Nope, but you don't have to worry when it breaks down in 12 months like you do with sky.

No, it will always be the property of Virgin, which is no bad thing.
renewed in july and currently paying £63 odd for xxl tv on 1 x v+HD box and two Tivo boxes, 50mb bb and basic telephone. last year i was paying £67 for the one HD box. I simply asked "is that the best offer you can do" about 5 times while talking to retentions / customer relations whatever they call it. hope this helps someone.
I just rang them quoting what the website said and got Tivo for 3quid.
I already have two multi room boxes so my old v+plus box is being moved into one room and they offered me a new v+plus box for my other room with no extra charge.
Happy days. Thanks for the tip.
i can get the £3 per month but they wanted a one off installation fee of £49 as well

No, I have just asked it while upgrading my package. If you have only broadband with Virgin it turns out that you need either take phone line to get M+ package or you need to get Large TV package to get TiVo which eventually added £15 per month to my existing £21 bill :-(. I hope it worth it.

Heat added anyway!
Thanks op phoned up vigin media got tivo installed last month was charged £49.95 activation fee told them wasnt happy about new customers getting it free and they said they will credit my account next month so many thanks jamin100 owe u a pint or 2

I just tried this and it worked!!! I was planning on getting Tivo anyway, didn't really mind spending £49.95 on the box as the upgrade from the standard virgin is probably worth it, but now i have it for free !!!!! Getting installed on 1 st Nov

Make sure you get put through to customer relations, thats the only department that can give you the free installation, I just tried worked for me
thanks your post convinced me to give it a try. After being transferred twice I managed to get the Tivo box activation fee waived and the old v+ box moved into another room.
Slightly off topic, but I've just checked my DD's and seen I'm now shelling out £19.50 a month for just Internet. A phone call is on the cards I reckon.

Before I do call though, I wonder if I might ask if anyone knows if BT's fibre optics would have to lay their own cables or would they use the ones virgin laid? Just another bargaining tool if so!!!

Cheers all.

had to ring twice to get the deal and in the end i got the same, paying an extra 4 quid and getting multiroom, tivo and tv xl, think i'll settle for that.
I forgot to add, the guy i spoke to was in customer relations, his name was Pat. after going through all the security i pressed 5 on the phone to go through to cancellations.

Hope this helps someone
i rang up last week to get a tivo box was told 50.00 installation was nt happy and said no but just rang up and quoted this offer and got it for free apart from £3 a month charge but get to keep v+ box in other room cheers big heat added
I've just had the same success after seeing this from OP. Very pleased.
success,thanks
After some persistence they gave in and gave me a tivo box with free installation and also taking my current box and installing it upstairs at an additional cost of £3 per month all in. So now have XL tv, m broadband and phone for £45 a month.
Nice one OP.

Just got off the phone and got a cracking deal.

As I saved some money for increased services I decided to pay the £49.95 fee for the larger 1TB box rather than have the 500Mb box for free.

I have added the Tivo service (£3), having my current V+HD box from living room moved upstairs to the bedroom as daughter already has a V+HD box in her room and having the sports and movies upgraded to the HD version(£7 for all 3 boxes).

All this and I managed to reduce my bill by £1.50 a month....happy days..

He moved me onto a different loyalty sceme than the one I was already on and even he was suprised at the outcome after he had added everything.
I did that and got that too!
