Check speeds through a different server than Virgin and it shows up as nowhere near the advertised speed

Good deal

That's just 'exclusive' to you

Depends on many many variables

Guess that depends where you are and on what service. Speedtest.net regularly records me over 200Mb/s download. So I’m happy. The price, not so much but end of contract next month so will check this out...

When did you cancel and how long did it take for them to ring you back?

Yes mine too, but its a connection to a virgin server and always shows the speed I`m paying for. Use a different one and make sure its connecting to something other than virgins server in the local exchange and its a different story altogether

Great price, did you cancel over the phone to get that price?

Yup, cancelled and they called on disconnection day so a month later, when I had a sky deal in place already..

I think I am right in saying that you will only ever get these really great deals if you cancel and await for the call back. Don’t call normal customer services and ask for an offer, don’t call cancellations and threaten to cancel then accept the first offer they come up with, actually cancel. You will 9 times out of 10 get a callback from outbound retentions - there are plenty of examples online showing the deals people have achieved.

I call every year and straight away come clean and say I am ringing again for a good deal as I do every year. They seem happy to sort me out. I would do the ‘im leaving give me a good deal’ charade if I had to but glad I dont

I got 100mbs and weekend talk 12 months for £22 per month and 1 of free £100 credit and it's from cancellation team.

paying for 50mb getting 2mb

Just had my callback and was offered the following..

- £25/ month to stay on the Vivid 100
- £35/ month to upgrade to Vivid 300

I called them today.

My Package (ohh Errr)

Vivid 150
Talk weekends
Basic TV

Paying £50.97 Been with them 10+ years

Going to cancel and see what happens

What if you don't get a call back or you miss it?

They will call until they get hold off you. At first they just texted me with a silly offer and I had to reply yes or no. I replied no and they rang me the next day on my VM landline.

Thats the trouble, i have no virgin land line for them to contact me on.

Ring them on 03454541111 and choose option 1 and then option 4 (thinking of leaving us) I think. It will ask you if you want to link your number to your account..

If you actually leave, you get even better offers. Existing customers who cannot be bothered to change, are cash cows which need to be milked as per their ideology. Also saves you from yearly price rise they blame on inflation while the price of broadband data and mobile data is going down every year and not up.

Not worth the risk, as virgin know there the best supplier by far, so they know you wont leave them.

What risk? If they do disconnect you then sign simply sign up to a new contract.
They will have to send you new equipment anyway so its better for them to offer a better price or provide upgraded services. I've found if they don't lower the price they will give you more services.

Ahhh gotcha. So Virgin are now responsible for the entire Internet. Cool. Didn’t read about that acquisition

i can also get downloads from certain Usenet servers in excess of 180Mb/s. Guess Virgin must own them too.

Is it possible to get this deal as a new customer? I had a door salesman knock on the door and offer me £20 a month off the full house bundle however I’d prefer to keep the tv with sky.

Ok I`ll bite and explain for the stupid!

If I use my 38mb vodafone line to connect to speedtest it picks the nearest server and shows 32mb to 36mb

If I use my 70mb Virgin vivid line to connect to speedtest and use the same server ( NOT VIRGINS OWN ) I`m lucky to see 15mb

to get this deal how long had you previously been a customer without changing or upgrading?

If anyone's still reading this, has anyone gotten close to this as a new customer?
