Like a few on here I got 5gb( 1gb plus 4 times lifetime data)1500 mins ,unlimited for £4 ,30 day rolling, which I gave to my daughter . If she doesn’t dip into the original 1gb , the next month’s allowance is 6gb . Only bought the one because I didn’t need one for myself at the time, now I do so I am now full of self-loathing
hotukdeals.com/dea…607 For the doubters - these deals have existed , not detracting from op’s deal -it’s a good offer .

Good deal for new customer.

Ive unlimited mins, text and data(3G) for £8 pm (£15 loyalty discount) - includes calls to 0870 & 0845. Been on it for years. I believe Virgin has left this one as is, is because its not used a lot at all.

Their T's and C's are weird:
You cannot share your data connection with other devices - known as "Tethering" - or use your phone for peer to peer file sharing, instant messaging or making internet phone calls.

So for example using WhatsApp voice/video call is technically breaking T&Cs (as well as Skype, Viber, SIP/VoIP etc).

Anyone have any idea if/how they enforce the no tethering rule?

I tether every single day. Has never been a problem..
Has any body else have trouble receiving calls and texts,
they don't always come till 2 hours later or not at all.
its well know on the virgin mobile forum.

Yeah im experiencing the same thing. Calls repeatedly not coming through then texts sent later. I'm thinking of complaining to Virgin about it. Absolutely terrible

Virgin say tethering isn't allowed but I do it from time to time with no repercussions. I do use a VPN though...

I'd go for the Virgin deal as you get more data and data rollover if you don't use all your allowance...this can be useful.

Plusnet customer service is very good though.

When you say you use a VPN, is that on your phone or the device you're tethering to?

Both. So it'll be active on my phone and laptop. Though you can turn off the laptop VPN if you run into any issues as the traffic is being routed through the phone VPN.

In order to disguise where the traffic is going, the VPN should run on the source of the data connection, i.e. the phone.

I use 'Freedome' by F-Secure as recommended by a host of leading security researchers. A free trial is available. If you do end up purchasing the VPN, look for voucher codes online to grab an even better deal
