First deal so be gentle!!

Ok, so I was so impressed with the Tesco's deal offering 500min, Unlimited texts and Unlimited data a month for £10, I decided to sign up my wife.

When I phoned Virgin to cancel her current contract they said they could better the deal by offering 800mins and unlimited texts and Unlimited data on a 1 month rolling contract.

When I mentioned that I had not seen this deal advertised, they mentioned that it's only available through cancellations.

Superb deal in my opinion, and well worth it if your currently a Virgin mobile customer.

I wonder if that only applies to contract customers as I am already PAYG normal tariff ( not rolling monthly) I doubt if it will work but worth a go.

Sorry this is not a deal just a heads up really.
A lot of people have complained on this site that they do not always get the same deal from Virgin mobile retensions.
Worth a heads up for other Virgin customers though

Where should I put a "Heads up" then?

Just got me and my wife on this deal. At first he offered me 400min Unlimited texts and Unlimited data on a 12 month contract which I said no to. I mentioned this deal and he went away and checked and said yes I could have 800mins Unlimited Texts and Unlimited Data for £10 (It should be £20 a month but he is crediting my account £10 a month).

Thanks for this deal, heat added

Were you a Virgin customer ringing to cancel?

Problem is, if you have a fixed term contract you can only cancel after your allotted time. I have another 7 months to go with my phone and call package.

Got this deal a week ago, after seeing the Tesco deal. I asked for my pac code and they offered me this. Normally £20 a month they said. Just got to get a phone now to replace my Sony ericsson W810i as looking at the screen for the web is very limited on the view.

do u get a free phone with this deal?

Were you a Virgin customer ringing to cancel?

Yes I was already on 200 mins and unlimited texts for £10, this is a much better deal

Hot! I was going to move to the £10 Tesco sim only deal today until i saw this..
Called Virgin retentions and spoke to someone after 45minutes! Told them about the Tesco deal and asked if they could match it. They asked if I was also a Virgin Media customer and when I said 'yes' they offered me the above sim-only deal!

brill just got it for the wife

This deal should be far hotter!

My wife who is on a Sim only rolling monthly contract with Virgin was on a £10 tariff, 200 mins other networks, unlimited Virgin to Virgin Minutes & Unlimited Texts.

Changed her to the £20 tariff 800 minutes, 1Gb Internet and Unlimited texts for £10 per month.

Phoned myself afterwards, and because I am on an existing phone+call plan of £8.50 per month (100 texts, 100 mins V-V, 100 mins to other networks), they couldn't match this for myself, understandably because I am tied into a fixed term contract.

However, the lovely Customer Services woman managed to transfer over for the last 7 months of my contract the £15 tariff they do on a 24 month contract of 100 mins to other networks, Unlimited V-V calls, 500 texts and 500mb data for £10 per month, so for £1.50 per month more on my tied in contract I am at least getting far more for my money!

Superb heads up from the OP here, and fantastic customer service experienced by Virgin.

You're welcome, Good Luck! Hope its worth the trip for you.

I don't have a Virgin Mobile contract so would it be possible for me to get this deal since I have nothing to cancel if I phone them! Well actually we do use Virgin Media TV/Broadband/Landline for many years so maybe they will look at that.

Try giving them a call, go through to cancellations (be warned their number unless you are with BT is a premium rate number) and just enquire anyway.

Tell them you don't have an account currently, but Tesco are offering X deal and could Virgin offer a similar deal for the same price as you "prefer their service blah blah" worth a try, you have nothing to lose, they either gain a customer or you hot foot it to Tesco and go for their deal instead.

Unlimited Internet - yet 1GB month. How do these companies get away with this. Its either unlimited or not???

For anyone wondering, Virgin Mobile uses T-mobiles (Everything Everywhere) network for coverage iirc...

I'm due for an upgrade at the end of November, currently only on 100 mins and 100 text.
What phone do you think they will offer me?
I am ideally after a HTC Desire or HD2....what tarrif would they offer, Any ideas anyone?

Cold from me as I tried this yesterday twice - am a PAYG user now but was ex contract some 2-3 months ago

Doesn't work... only offered me the carp deals that they have on their website.

this is red hot. can the deal go up over time?
do you get a free phone?

have some heat, this should be hotter, i think it soon will!

Might try this with the 2 Virgin liberty sim 30 month rolling contracts we have on my wife and daughters phones. Currently paying £10 month for unlimited texts, 300 minutes but no internet.

wouldn't offer me that deal......
Your tariff gives you:
200 minutes
Unlimited texts
mmmmm
not good buddy

if i get this sim will i get all the blackberry services such as emails and blackberry messenger?

Banned

i used to be with virgin and there packages have a fair usage which i always hit. I ended up with a high bill every month exs[ecially due to internet usage.

Very disappointed!!!

I was fortunate enough to get the T-Mobile 600mins 500 Txts and Unlimited 3G a month internet. But this is a decent deal.

we arent able to do this for all customers and will end when the tesco deal ends - ie ended at 5pm yesterday.

Dont count on getting it

I thought my deal for 300 mins and 300 texts for £10 with Virgin was good.....going to try for this one tomorrow

Deal is currently marked as expired - but has apparently been extended (till tomorrow only). Also includes free booster - unlimited texts or unlimited landline calls. Link:hotukdeals.com/dea…=20

agree, great customer service at virgin mobile. but virgin media c/s average to poor

just tried she goes systems are switched off, will call in the morning

just another heads up for virgin media customers who have landline/broadband/tv with them. they're sending out flyers to get people to sign up on that 50min/300 text/unlimited web package with a blackberry 8520, good for people wanting to get on the blackberry messenger bandwagon!

i found the net slow and asked for the next model up which is the new blackberry curve 9300, which is over £20 most places without the internet! so for £15 i've got 100 mins / 500 text / unlimited internet : perfect for cash strapped students like me & u get a further 15% your monthly rate with an NUS card. this can be applied at any point, not necessarily when you take out the contact, just ring customer services and they'll apply it.

£12.75 a month, LEGIT, no cash back crap, no crediting promises that fall through after your cancellation period, a brand new blackberry curve 3g 9300

usman94

doubt it, they're using the blackberry data package as a big attraction to their contract offers at the moment. doubt they would include in this, then again this isn't a offer but more of a chance for them to retain customers, so they could throw it in if you play hardball

you were one of the lucky ones. we no longer sock the 9300

As far as tarrifs go, all threads seem to end up recommending giffgaaf. No phone, no frills but with a goody bag unlimited internet seems to mean just that. San Francisco + £10.00 giffgaff goody bag is calling to me.
