Just saw this in my local virgin store.

Seems like a good deal. Thinking of changing over from three as I get terrible signal at home.

If you're getting a poor Three signal at home, try this. Works for me.

shame there's no tethering ,

could have got rid of the landline
They really need to change their policy on tethering to attract more customers

Had it a few years now. I think I just called 3 customer services and asked if I could have one because I couldn't make or receive calls from my living room.

i see. well its no longer available not at least for 3 years. I have zero signal at home and have to divert my calls to a different network. Only reason I stay with three is for the Feel at Home as I travel a lot.

They've got an app which supposedly does the same thing as the box but works with any wi-fi, not just at home. No idea how good it is though.. Might be worth a try for free.

ps. The boxes are selling on ebay for £15 - £20 if you're desperate.

Pretty much this. Had to cancel my recent contract order from them on the 40g offer.

I heard they do, but they monitor it? Can can’t confirm this.

That is correct.
The T&C's say they don't offer tethering, but if you use it lightly you should have no issues.
But if you were using a large amount of your data to tether expect them to place restrictions on your account!
By them saying no tethering in the T&C's they've covered themselves if they do genuinely decide one day to block all tethering and the account user has no recourse.

Yes, the Three Signal Box was great set a mates up years ago went from zero to full signal at home
PS) heat OP, Threes indoor/sticks penetration isn’t as good as EEs lower 4G frequency

That and the fact there's no underlying 2g signal. They worse than persil are for washing powder on improving it. Super voice super super voice, super ultra voice. They know they got a fundamental problem in buildings so your ok at home but not in a pub. You can't get a 2g signal that's not there no matter how super duper they are at describing it. It's a network image problem that hounds them like fleas on a dog.

You are misinformed Sir,
Tethering works like a charm on Virgin mobile contract(cheeky)

That we do. That we dooby do;)
you can tether up to half of your allowance. For those of you bad at maths that means you have 50gb of tethering with this deal.
Is this only in store? Or online / phone sales?
Please help. Is this deal still live as I can't see it on virgin site following the link? Thanks

I don't give a fig about the small print. I'm telling you for a fact virgin allow tethering, regardless of what they might advertise.

Virgin don't allow tethering, So what is the point of 100gb?

I had a chat with Virgin sales rep online and asked if they allow tethering ............ They replied yes they do but they may drop you from 4G to 3G speed if you happen to use it frequently. I asked him about any particular limit for tethering for say 40 GB deal but he said there no particular limit though they may drop the speed to 3G.

I would switch from Three to Virgin on a 40 GB deal with 5K minutes n unlimited Texts for £10 when it comes next time (hopefully soon) considering Tethering is allowed.

Well.... After spending nearly 70mins on the phone to Customer services in India then getting transferred back to local UK, I managed to bag a box.

From the outset, they make out that it is no longer available. First line support: We will look into improving the signal transmitter.... Yeah right I told him, spend millions on a transmitter just for me instead of a £50 box.... So I said that its no point me staying with Three as this has been said to me many times before and after 3 1/2years with Three, your time is up.

Then they offered me a 1 month credit of phone bill..... I said, look just let me speak to someone in higher authority and they transferred me back to UK. This india call centre took 50mins.

I explained to the UK centre my problems and that I have given Three 3 1/2years to sort out the problem of signal and no progress. Seeing other networks are now offering roaming packages similar to Three Feel At Home, I have no reason to stay with you and spend extra on another sim for taking calls that should be coming through. He advised Three in Touch and I said it doesnt work for me. So the ball was bounced back and forth back and forth.

I said what about the Signal box, thats all I need.
Oh, that is no longer available.
OK then, what if I buy one on Ebay?
Oh, don't do that. It won't work. It needs to be registered specifically for you (tell me something I dont know!). Wait a moment and see what I can do.... I maybe 'able' to locate some old stock......

And thats that! Box arriving sometime today.

So if you are on Three and really in a bad area, perservere and request to move onto some with Higher Authority .

Good work. I wonder if there's a direct number for their uk call centre. The one in India has always been pretty good for me but for stuff like this you know they won't have the actual means to do much..
Voted COLD as Virgin do NOT allow tethering, so whats the point of so much data?
Are EE customer services correct in saying that Virgins speed is less than EE and that they have a fair useage cap and throttle speeds? I need to remain on EE network due to location. Would this Virgin sim deal give me poor service compared to EE?
Any help from someone on the know would help.

Virgin don't allow tethering, So what is the point of 100gb?

Cheers mate. Stopped me from ordering. Should be a criminal offence to have unlimited data and ban tethering like 3 do. Suppose this has a figure in GB so isn't as bad. With EE at the moment. 64gb for £16 a month but keep running out so was looking to upgrade. Just hope next year when it's done they'll keep me on the same price
How do Virgin know if you're tethering?
