Been with virgin mobile for 2 months.

was paying £4 a month.

my phone used about 150KB of data which in turn cost me £2 on 2 days, i phoned up to cancel told them about the Plusnet offer, so has increased my anytime minutes from 100 to 1500. still unlimited texts, unlimited landline. Plus now get 1.5GB data as opposed to zero oh and also get unlimited virgin mobile calls.

I called up on the number

0345 6000 789

option 2 for mobile then option 2 for thinking of leaving / upgrading. my account is showing 1gb, will check this so have adjusted this deal

I've been offered 2GB data, 2500 minutes and Unlimited texts for £5 per month as a new customer (existing Virgin Media - not sure if this makes a difference).

Yes, it is available on either a monthly contract or 12 month contract.

I was looking though for a lower cost one with less allowance for two phones that are just for emergencies.
virgin are moving to 12 month contracts, even retentions try and get you to sign up to that length. A customer service manager who I escalated to told me that it was Ofcom forcing them, Ofcom said they no nothing about it. Terrible customer service.

Used them off and over about 7 years. Customer service has been great
just spoke to virgin new customers only can`t have because I have broadband daft if you ask me plusnet doing similar offer.
Retention deals should be banned... they are tailored to the individual, and not available to all. (_;)

Sure there will be plenty of completely unbelievable retention deals on here that only one person could get.

If I was cynical I'd say that it was Virgin placing moles. But I'm not - sure loads of others get this and the other VM retention deals?!!!

Moles ???? They have offered me LESS than the plusnet deal ? Not very good for moles lol
Called up beginning of the week to cancel , bloke I spoke to said that they could not offer anything close to the Plusnet offer, they must have woken up to the number of customers they have lost.

you should have said thats ok i will be cancelling, then most likely they would get back to you to offer you a better deal, the thing about virgin they have always treated new customers better than there own loyal customers, unless you ring and try to cancel

The reason is most likely bs, but it seems true they're not offering 30 day rolling contracts as I don't see it on the website anymore?
They never agreed when I called on 789 :-(

They didn't offer me a better deal even though I had been with them for around 5 years and was paying around £10 for 2500 minutes and 2gb. I hardly used much of my allowance and just left them to move to BT with unlimited and 6gb for £11 (less after Amazon vouchers). They asked who I was moving to and the cost but didn't try making any offers.
Cold, only because it's Virgin Mobile. I was on a very similar deal with them, great on the face of it, but in reality.......
I think they put you down like a third class customer, I used to get voicemails hours after someone had called me when I had full signal and a charged phone. After several missed important phone calls (call from parents to pick them up from hospital; call to collect car from garage; call from work, etc) I just gave up on them and switched network. Trust me and don't do it. I am a Virgin media customer, so I'm not just a disgruntled customer, this is a honest account, I even called their cs several times before switching, but they didn't fix the issue.

Yeah I put in an official complaint as it was not just them telling me this that I was speaking to them about. lady from the CEO team called me back and agreed it wasn't a good show from the customer service team and their manager and said it was virgins decision to get rid of contracts. Whole thing left a nasty taste, customer service was awful even to the point where I was put through to another department and then the woman didn't even acknowledge what I said to her.

did you ask for the deal or do what i did and just basically came out with I am leaving I am not happy?
I just came off the phone with Virgin.
I've been on a measly 100 minutes and 300 texts for £5 a month for several years and in view of the Plusnet deal, thought it time for a change so phoned for the PAC code to transfer my number.
In the end, they offered me 1500 minutes, unlimited texts and 2GB data for £6 a month, which I thought I'd take to save myself any potential grief arising from a transfer. 1GB data rollover too
They insisted on changing from my current rolling 30 day sim to the 12 month contract but to be honest, I think I can live with this deal for a year.
is it 4G plan?
alienbats

is it 4G plan?

Yes, 4G. Contract begins on my refresh date early next month but as a goodwill gesture, they gave me the data from today
I got 1500mins, unlimited texts and 4gb of 4g for £5.

I wouldnt personally go on virgins 4g plan. If you do you aitomatically lose free calls to 0870/0845 which in my eyes is much more important than having 4g.

Some people have posted that they managed to get both but a reduced amount to 0870. I didn't manage that and stayed on 3g instead of losing the 0870 calls when they pushed me to move to 4g

I'm on this. Just went to my Virgin profile and change it from the 4GB at £8 to the 2GB £5 one.

This is crap, they never offered anything when I said I was leaving for the plusnet deal. I've been with them for over a decade!!
I've just been on a webchat as a new customer & they offered nothing except what is on their website, they even tried to tell me their coverage is better then PlusNet until I pointed out they both use EE

Don't Virgin get better contention on EE than Plusnet though ? I read on HUKD that despite GiffGaff and Tesco both being on the O2 network priority is given to Tesco mobile before GiffGaff users.

It has deteriorated in the last year or so.
Used to be really good, but now it seems they have changed their approach.
