Virgin Mobile Retention deal - SIM-only 30-day contract (2500 minutes, Unlimited everything else) £5 per month

This is a retention deal for Virgin Mobile customers.

I have a £5 (30-day) SIM only contract I took out in September after phoning up for PAC code at the end of my wife's 24-month contract.

They offered me the £25 (at the time) PREMIERE SIM ONLY w/BLACKBERRY for £5.

I get charged £25 but they give me a £20 customer loyalty discount for as long as I keep the contract. I have never been charged more than £5.

I get the following (it rolled over today):

Cost Allowance Category Allowance Type From To Unit Balance
Inclusive Bundle Texts 08/04/2013 07/05/2013 Unlimited Unlimited
Inclusive Bundle Virgin mobile texts 08/04/2013 07/05/2013 Unlimited Unlimited

Further information from same bill. Obviously account number and mobile number covered up. Hopefully this deal will be helpful for some. I waited as I wanted to be sure they didn't start charging me more after say 6 months. I have only ever paid £5 per month since September. When I took it out they actually said "This is only on a 30-day rolling contract, feel free to phone up and cancel if you find a better deal".

Haven't even bothered looking since as I think this is pretty unbeatable.

Are you a virgin media (TV, TELEPHONE AND BROADBAND) customer?

I have tried it last month and they would not give in. I also thretened them with PAC code still no luck, any advice.........

Thanks

Just watch out that they are like T-Mobile and offer you a deal that they imply is as long as you keep the contract but actually is 12months. I've had this myself £5 a month, queried the 12months figure on the paperwork after it was all agreed and they said nothing was up and it would just continue. Sure enough it reverted back to the original £25 a month after the 12month of a retention offer ran out.

Excellent if you get it, just be careful of them stinging you later.

i get this deal for £9 a month and when i also joined VM a couple of weeks ago, I asked about any further reduction as i now how the TV, BB and Phone and they said it wasn't possible.

Might ring them later and have another go.

I got the same deal a couple of months ago but they would go lower than £7 a month. Still I'm quite happy with that.

Month 11, ring them and give notice. They will renew at the lower price.

i am on the same deal, its been over a year and still £5, i had 3 sims with them i, when offered this deal i asked if other 2 could be on same, so i have 3 on £5, if you dont ask youll never know.

Not available to everyone, very much based on the mood of the advisor you speak to.

Hot if you can get it.

I'm on very similar for £7.50pm Blackberry sim, works perfect in my iPhone.

So you threaten to leave , ask for your PAC code ?

I posted deal for £5 which has 1200m/1G. New or old customers. its gone cold:(

This is a brilliant deal if anyone can get it and if its a permanent deal not just a 12 month one.

I got broadband with vm every year I call them to cancel even and they give me 3/4 months free they make it hard to switch because they give cradit and loyalty discount

Got the same for £6 hot

Nothing to do with the mood of the advisor, it is to do with what the system will offer. It is based upon a computerised system so if it says you can't have that deal, you can't have that deal. Some people with more than one number can't get the same deal on all the numbers so it is never guaranteed that Anyone will get the above.

Just rung them and the advisor i was talking to also confirmed that it is indeed based on the system that they have and the details they enter. He said it would be down to a number of factors, so I suspect the fact that the OP's Mrs has just come off a 24 month contract probably has a BIG part to play here.

He told me it was very unlikely that I would get a similar deal at the moment, but that i could ring retentions back after 10am to ask them if I wanted to, so I will. I'm perfectly happy to pay £9 a month either way, but if i can get it down to £5 then there's certainly no harm in asking.

If you don't get on with the first phonecall try again. I understand that 'the system' may say no but it is down to who you speak to. Every time I end a contract I ring a few times and ALWAYS get a better deal than what the first person said they could offer. It's happened twice this month with BT for my parents and uncle. Eg unlimited phone BB and tv for £14 instead of £21. And my uncle from £13.99 a month unlimited calls and line rental to £14 a quarter!! But for both instances the first person couldn't give any better than the contract they currently had.. apparently

i seen i voted hot

I hope I could get this deal but I'm contracted to Vodaphone until July 8th I wonder if I can go for the deal but get the contract to start on July 9th?

I got given 400 minutes with 1GB data and unlimited texts for £6.32 last month. Didn't even haggle, the outbound team just called me up and asked if everything was ok.

I was previously on the £7 a month deal and they gave me more minutes and data for less money as long as I signed up for 12 months.

The Virgin deals are ridiculously good on SIM only.

I don't believe it is determined by your contract situation or 'the system'.
I threatened to leave before and was offered little to tempt me to stay - chap was quite abrupt with me.
Phoned back next day and got a more friendly advisor who proceeded to save me £5pm and a better contract.

You dont have to believe me, but as an employee im aware of VM's policies!

And completely sucks in everything else. PAC code is best thing ever you can get from VM.

For example: it takes now 3 months to write one page letter (it suppose to be my CISAS claim settlement, just ONE page letter, nothing else)

Cheers OP. Just phoned to request PAC code for a 24 month contract that is about to expire and got offered the £5pm rolling (was paying £10pm). Happy days

Only started £7/mth 150 min/500mb a month ago, just been offered 600min/1Gb for £10.
Not brilliant but operator said I will get further discounts once I have been with VM for longer.
Might try again later.

And the 3G is appalling

Superb deal, rang them and got the offer with no hassle at all.Cheers

THANKS i just got same £5 deal

No go for me. I've been on $8 for 800 Mins, 5gb, 5k text, 3k Virgin to virgin. Asked for something just now but wouldn't do anything. I got this deal as a retention. Oh well still a great deal in my eyes so not complaining. Good luck to those of you trying.

Those who got this deal, what do you answer when they say 'what have you seen better'? Am currently on 1200 mins for £12 but would like to reduce costs

Here we go again lol.

These threads start every month, they get expired and then someone starts again. And then it's the same debate. lol

Because its for Virgin Media customers only .... OP is trying to pass the deal as available to anyone but it's not.
