I'm on virgin, and signal never slows during the day, or night, I've never experienced less speed than when I was on either EE or three, and I use my phone a lot.

Maybe it's the area where I live, not everyone lives in London Sam

I work in a city and tried to call EE ... signal was so poor they had to call me back on my office landline!!

It's almost as if different providers have different signal strengths in different areas and you need to select the one that has the best one in your home/work

That look like the same deal I'm on, if so it's got 1GB rollover as well each month. Although and couldn't find that by having a quick flick through the deal.
Virgin Media is worst mobile MVNO in UK. EE has crippled the signal, by giving very less priority on EE network and limiting bands . It is even worse than 3G networks used to be before. . Data does not work most times during the day and dropped calls. If you live in big city like London with overloaded EE network, avoid like plague.

Visit London on a working day . If you lose your phone, Phillipines call center not even allowed to block phone or send new SIM card. Need to visit Virgin shop which may not be near to some people.

Not not aware of that to be honest. But not sure if it's a deal breaker for many?

But that the phone becomes dead in busy places . When you need to phone most , it won't work. Work perfectly at home or during night.
For those not aware, far better sim deals have been posted on HUKD recently, e.g. Three 8gb Unl Min Unl Text for approx £5 a month with cashback

If for whatever reason you prefer Virgin Media then go for it
It's not bad but my gripe is they cap calls and never give unlimited minutes...the sky deal does for the same 6 quid but if you signup through TCB you get 20 quid back taking it down to £4.33 per month...but it also helps who you get the best signal from and your experience with customer services that make the deal to suit yourself.

Inclined to believe the EE comments, had to payout my BT Mobile contract midterm because it was so bad and kept dropping calls - took them a couple of months to get me through diagnostics and finally got to EE who basically said the drop rate was less than 3% so they wouldn’t help further - was annoying af because the drop rate was very noticeable and extremely frustrating to have to keep calling back and going through number busy ping pong on every few calls. However switched to Three and had no dropped calls or coverage issues. Missus is directly on EE and has no issues either.

How very interesting, so basically all the networks have similar issues. I was going to leave Three but stuck with them because its significantly cheaper and I once did a comparison with EE with data speeds running around 2mbs on a weekend but on voda it was 20mbs. :/

EE has different priority for different plans. You may be perfectly fine on their higher price 5G, EE Max or BT SIM card. But the lower price EE Essentials, Virgin , ASDA , Plusnet are the ones where they cripple .

That’s assuming that their coverage maps accurately reflect their actual service capabilities in a particular area!
Suppose 5G is coming, that might help. I think your right about priority but if a customer chooses a basic plan then you kinda have to accept basic network. City of London is unusual in that the tall buildings can create dead spots.... Just saying
I'm using virgin almost an year, I should day that the call quality & 3g is very week.

Better to pay more and stick to O2 or ee

They never do, vodafone shows great signals in my house but it's terrible. When I wanted to switch providers I bought 4 PAYG sim cards from O2, 3, EE and Vodafone and tried all of them and then decided where to get a contract from
Aside from the usual comments about signal quality which is almost always directly related to how far away and busy the nearest mast is, I've been on Virgin on this same deal for a few months now and not sure I'd recommend it.

The free data they offer on WhatsApp and Twitter is great in theory but it has one major drawback in that push notifications are very often delayed if they come through at all. It feels like the old days where you have to manually check for new messages. There's been a thread about it on the VM forum and an ongoing support ticket for over five months, so clearly VM are struggling to resolve it. Some people have successfully got out of their contract over the issue. In addition, sometimes there's a noticeable delay in internet responsiveness when flicking between apps, which I'm assuming is also related to the data coming through to your handset in different ways.

I'm considering going back to a normal deal without this free data feature as it seems fundamentally flawed.

Wasn’t aware of that but they certainly made it out as if BT didn’t have much to do with the mobile and they had to do everything through bt. Strange thing was that part of the diagnostics was to try a different phone so me and missus swapped for a week. I still had the same problem and hers worked fine - the only difference was EE vs BT. Get what you’re saying and guess there were other factors in play too. Anyway, glad to be shot of them - they weren’t helpful when it came to fixing and luckily I’ve had no problems with Three so far

You're right - my mother was on Virgin. She's received a new smart phone for birthday and her old phone is one of the old style sims that even when cut down won't fit. So she's called Virgin multiple times to get a new sim. Been promised a new sim multiple times, had the phone put down on her multiple times as well and she's not been rude - been upset but not angry. After 3 weeks of messing around and calling 789 as per their web site she just bought an EE sim. They blamed Royal mail, anyone else but themselves. Hopeless on a number of levels.
I need help here. So my contract with Virgin was due to expire in August but for whatever reason it hasn't. On the Virgin App the contract term has changed to "1 months". I was on a 12 month contract with 1500 mins, unlimited texts and 2gb data which gets rolled over all for £5.12 a month. Does anyone know why it hasn't finished? I was on a similar 12 month deal with Virgin before my current one and that did end at the date stated so I'm a bit confused. Not complaining though as I'm more than happy with my current tariff but would still like to know why its ongoing still

I'm with VM and overall its been ok, 1 issue I did have was using my mobile data when out and about when in the EU recently it was slow, the second (not sure if its Virgin at fault) is podcasts aren't good quality.

I posted the deal many months ago but if you phone and tell them another company has offered you that deal you will get it, 6 quid for 4gb is not that great a deal now, I think Virgin are offering 10 quid for 10gb last time I looked and my bro got that down to 8gb because he's a long time customer.

Been on 5 and 6 quid deals for over 10 years now with no problems, they even phoned and said my deal was running out and was about to go back to 10 quid but could offer me the same 6 quid deal if I wanted, yeah first time in 10 years for a call about a deal but at least they did.
